STOP PRESS: Bernie Manning Queensland *CDS* Circular Date Stamp Book issued.

As I type this, the parcel has just arrived hot from Bernie's book printer.

This is the FIRST place you will see these advertised.

They are sitting here ready to mail out.

Detailed review here - http://www.glenstephens.com/snjuly11.html

Volume 1 was NUMERALS, and this new Volume 2 in the CIRCULAR (cds) cancels.

Find just ONE half decent cancel, once in your life, on a common 1d or 2d stamp, in a glassine of junk, or on a circuit book page etc, and your book cost is repaid WITH interest.

I have several 'RRRR' Queensland cancels listed on my Rarity page now for $A200 each .. and many in each book are FAR rarer and FAR pricier than that!

http://www.glenstephens.com/rarity.html

I sold carton after carton after carton of the Volume 1 book - - the NUMERALS, and still have good stocks. I understand I sold more than any other source.

You can read all about the NUMERAL cancel book here, and see many pix of the COLOUR pages:

http://www.stampboards.com/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=13912

Read my detailed REVIEW of it here - http://www.glenstephens.com/snoctober09.html

This one is even THICKER than the first - at 270 large A4/Quarto type pages.

Volume 2 - The Town Cancellations. (The Numeral Cancellations will be rebadged as Volume 1). The new book is approx 270 pages spirobound, and covers 700 towns, and 1600 cancellation types.

Ratings are based on a census of over 12,000 cancellations. The book will retail for $150

This book is around a kilo, (2.2 lbs) as is Volume 1. Given the absurd way AP treats 'parcels' it only costs about a DOLLAR more to post TWO books as ONE to most places domestically!

i.e. to MEL/ADL/BNE post one book is $12 and just $14 for both!

Overseas unreg'd SEA - that generally goes by AIR - is $A25 for 1 book, or $A40 for both.

So if you buy BOTH you save ~$10 in post, AND I give a $20 discount for both books bought together.

I am offering both at ISSUE PRICE - NO MARK-UP. Indeed buy both at $20 UNDER issue price. History shows such superb books sell out and INCREASE in value. My credo for decades has been "Knowledge Is Power" and I URGE all readers to buy these kind of superb tomes. They often sell out and go up in value.

EVERY dealer who ever sees some QLD lower values cannot be without this book(s). Low value Queensland QV heads are only a dollar or 2 per 100 and have generally never been checked for cancels as these books are only recent.

And you can find lots of very scarce cancels on Roos too.

Volume #1 is $A150 - stock code 581QL

Volume #2 is $A150 - stock code 582QM

Both Volumes bought together are $A280 - stock code 583QN

All plus post.

Image

Spot a 713 cancel on a Roo like this, (or indeed on the many other RRRRR cancels) and you will pay for BOTH books with just one stamp!

Image

Buy any TWO of these superb books at once, and deduct another $A15. Buy any THREE and deduct $25 total. Buy any FOUR and deduct $A35. :)

Shipping cost is often around the SAME in Australia for 1 - or 3 or 4 or 5 books! LayBy/Layaway is of course always available on all my stock. ALL are in stock here and now - NO other dealer in the country has stock of all 5.

Geoff Kellow - the superb "The Stamps Of Victoria" Retail $165. Discounted to $A150
http://www.stampboards.com/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=32599 (Stock code 842FQ)

The superb and huge Hugh Freeman "Numeral Cancels Of Victoria" Book. $A150
http://www.stampboards.com/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=9696 (Stock code 693WC)

Barwis "Half Lengths Of Victoria" a MAGNIFICENT hard back book - discount Retail $A175
http://www.stampboards.com/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=29922 (Stock code 263TL)

Bernie Manning - “(Vol 1) Queensland - The Numeral Cancellations” – Retail $A150
http://www.stampboards.com/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=13912 (Stock code 582QL)

Bernie Manning – “(Vol 2) Queensland - The Town Circular Datestamps” – Retail $A150
http://www.stampboards.com/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=27777 (Stock code 582QM)

Or, add $A40 for a high rez CD Rom copy of the huge new Hugh Freeman “The Numeral Cancellations of New South Wales” : http://www.glenstephens.com/snoctober12.html - (Stock code 637KT)

Image

=========

REMEMBER - All parcels leaving me this month will have these kind of GEMS as franking!

Image

Remember, adding another lot of mine (posted by either Admin or GlenStephens or Global Administrator, or ozstamps) - here (or on my website) for sale in general adds ZERO to your shipping cost, so have a good look at what is on offer here in case something else appeals:

http://www.stampboards.com/viewforum.php?f=27

All payment details are on - http://www.glenstephens.com/payment.html

http://www.glenstephens.com/order.html

For overseas members, to find out the approx cost in YOUR currency, click here - http://www.xe.com

MONEY BACK GUARANTEE - don't like it - mail it back within 48 hours of receiving it. No-one ever has yet. :)

- and "lay-by/layaway" is always possible - email me with any queries to glen [at] glenstephens.com - OR "trade-ins" always possible! If you have a pile of surplus stuff I may well be happy to offset that against this item - see http://www.glenstephens.com/buying.html

And many similar mouth watering NETT price offers are being loaded weekly onto -

http://www.glenstephens.com/rarity.html and http://www.glenstephens.com/specials.html

As per stampboard convention - this lot is offered exclusively to board members - and on no other sales venue.

For members who make a BANK TRANSFER payment you WILL generally get your goods faster as it saves me some hassle. :)

Hi Glen,

Would it possible to hang on to a copy of each for a couple of months? (I'm just starting going through some old world stamps I got before Christmas and I'm finding some nice higher-value stuff like old mint Danish Newspaper stamps and mint high value Ruanda-Urundi that I just need to organise and then try to sell.....:))

That has paid for your set already Dirk. :)

By using these books I quickly deduced this cover FRONT below was worth about DOUBLE what both books cost. (Literally!)

It has already found a worthy new home in Qld. :)

The front was already **IN** my junk box, and only because one of Bernie's books (Vol 2) was on my desk did I bother pulling it out, and even looking up the cds.

When I saw with some amazement that MOUNT COTTON cds was not listed amywhere in the huge Vol 2, I then with curiosity looked up the 2 line handstamp - and discovered it also had never been seen before by collectors!

So all 3 markings here were pretty much unknown!

Probably the Queensland cover find of this decade, and it was literally in the junk box.

Full details here -

http://www.stampboards.com/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=28332

Had Volume 2 not been on my desk that is where the front would have stayed. Fairly ordinary condition with stamp foxing, so buyer would likely have soaked the stamps off, and as you can see a numeral striike on either would be unreadable if soaked.

So a multi $100 front would have yielded a couple of dollars of rusty stamps without this book.

Nice find Glen 8)

I have to go through all my Queensland for both numerals and CDS's. I did that with Victoria once I got Freeman & White's book from you and found a RRRR plus many RRR and others so it paid for that book easily.

I'd always segregated any numeral cancels on Roo's in the hope that there would be a proper priced book on Queensland one day, and that day has arrived :!:

I've just sent you an email order for the 2 Bernie Manning books plus the latest ACSC KGV, KGVI and Decimals I.

Hi Glen,

I've sent two emails to you in the past two weeks saying I'd like to pay up for the books but have yet to get a reply.

A result!

I was finally able to use the online order form (the 'submit' button worked for me at last!) so I look forward to a confirmation email. (I added a note about other literature as well).

Glen,

The Freeman's arrived today thank you very much and now I would like to purchase one of each of these two books if you still have them.

I was waiting to make sure I had sufficient funds and didn't think they would be available for another week yet but someone is looking after me.

If still available I will place order tomorrow night but send funds tomorrow. Please let me know if that's OK

Cheers,

Frank (Electric Chook)

And I'm still waiting to hear if I have got the Freeman and Manning books I ordered, two emails sent without reply lately, two more sent in June as well just regarding Manning, also ignored.

Please let me know if you are going to fullfill the two orders as I'm starting to get fed up.

moriety - I got your order FOUR (4) days back. That is mere nanosecond in time around here. I do not even look at an order under a week old, as guess what, I am BUSY, and state that in capital letters on my order page.

After several changes or mind and direction from you over several months (3½ to be precise) and about 20 emails, I finally got it, and the books will be mailed when they are mailed.

Post will be what it is when packed up - I do not run the PO. Nice stamp always used of course.

There is no other current States cancel literature sadly. The 3 books you ordered are it for now.

That is how things work in Castlecrag. Oddly I do not have high blood pressure, or stress symptoms. How about you?

Very strange.

I placed the Freeman order two sundays ago (almost 1½ weeks ago) on your website. The Manning order was placed in May with the understanding I'd pay in June. In June I sent 2 emails stating I'd like to pay, neither were replied to.

The final email but one was simply asking if you knew how much the total postage would be for both orders to give me an idea of what the total charge would be when the credit card bill dropped on my mat, you dont know so no problem, but replying and saying that by email would have been good.

20 emails: There were about 6 sent the day in May I tried to order Manning on your site but was unable too. Other than that just 5.

Stress:
I live in London, therefore I am always stressed, as are all Londoners!

Well as some American once said: "the Customer is always right"

I presume he never dealt with a Brit with Amnesia!

Anyway back to the offer - 1 set left here on hand, then I need to order more which takes MUCH time for Bernie to complete printing, and ship from interstate.

Okay,

7 not 6. All the May, Monday ones were trying to pass on my order details as I couldn't use your order form on the site, as well as asking about a specific stamp order I had in mind but gave up on.

Doug (and others!) do not forget the CTO franking is totally hidden UNDER the address label! (See thread below for photo of how it looks) Open it with extreme care please.

Moriety's franking is cat ÂŁ150 and cost to him a small fraction of that - which may cheer him up a little.

Please add pix to this thread when they arrive. :)

Thanks Glen,
Mannings and Freemans now on the desk.
It feels a bit like I have been given something of a treasure map with these and I wonder what there is available for the remaining states and territories.
Thanks mate.

I received the books today Glen - I wasn't expecting the detailed 1905 map of Queensland with the numeral cancellations book.

What a surprise!!!

I posted pictures of the souvenir sheets in the other thread - that certainly offsets postage costs! -

http://www.stampboards.com/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=29146&start=50

One comment I have about the two Queensland books is with the binding - it's the wire binding that doesn't quite completely close in the back.

I've always had problems with this type of binding losing pages out the back.

I have found a solution that keeps you from accidentally losing pages if you are a bit too vigorous with the pages (or just drop it on the floor :( ).

Since I'm a computer type, I strip a single wire out of a 2 foot section of ethernet cable.

1) Open the back cover of the book
2) Secure the wire to the first binding loop by twisting it tightly onto itself 4 times
3) Weave the wire alternately through the front and back loops of the binding.
4) Once you get to the other end twist the wire tightly back over itself.

This basically "stitches" the binding together keeping pages from slipping out of the back.

The other nice thing is that if you do it between the back cover and the last page it isn't bulky and doesn't show - or bother you as you're using the book!!!

Thanks,
ghopper02

Hi Glen,

I've just got my October credit card statment and I see you still haven't taken the money owed for either these and the Victoria cancels book.

As to my small (thus far) Queensland collection using the books I have these:

Image

From L to R:

2x No: 70, PO unknown and rated NNS (number not seen)
102: Either Norley (rated 5R), PO closed 31/12/1869 or Rockhampton (2R) after reallocation.
173 Milchester rated 1R
And lastly Charters Towers type 3C cancel rated 2R.

I've also got a 215, Maidstone, type 2A cancel rated 1R.

Both books are superb and well worth the money, the author has put a huge amount of research into these tomes and it shows. If you collect Queensland these are invaluable.

Moriety .. yes sorry for that. Started on them this morning actually.

I process most card charges end month, but this month has got away from me! The "joys" of being a 1 man business.

As regular clients know, I am the only dealer alive to ship goods BEFORE I charge cards.

The first two are QL, upside down, not 70. Common part of many common duplexes

And be careful with the Charters Towers. Many similar CDS and duplexes that could be confused.
