Thursday March 30 to Sunday April 2. ALL the info you will ever need to know is here -
Out at Caulfield Racecourse .. inner suburbs Melbourne basically. Easy train or tram ride they assure me. 8)
There are a great range of souvenir philatelic items for Melbourne 2017 already available. See the Melbourne 2017 thread for details:
Stampboards has kindly been allocated a nice big area by the Committee, for members to pop by, and chat and surf the web etc, as we did so successfully at Melbourne 2013.
Where heaps of members popped by to chat, meet up, and pass on info on all the hot stuff being issued etc, from which many paid for their trips down, many times over. TONS of pix of them and the action are here - DO take a look -
I hope to see a LOT of familiar and new faces - add a note here if you are attending please.
I hope we can organise a dinner on the Friday night - Saturday is the Palmares Award Night Dinner and some of our members will need to be there, so Friday works best I think.
Whether we hold it around Caulfield, or in the city does not bother me - anyone with any suggestions please chime in! But being Friday getting a booking for 20 or 30 or maybe 40 folks is TOUGH, so please commit ASAP if you will be making it so we can get cracking on it. (Our 2013 Dinner was about 50.) Will not be expensive, is our aim.
The Committee have kindly allocated us a Meeting Room from noon to 1pm Saturday April 1 - so get along there too. It was 'Standing Room Only' in 2013. 8)
April 1st just happens to be our TENTH Birthday of going "live" - so we will arrange a cake for the occasion, for those at the meeting, and some goodies.
Margo works Thursday until late, so we can't fly up until the Friday on first 6am flight (groan) so can I ask if there are any members around Thursday who can offer to volunteer an hour or so each to loosely hold the fort until we arrive?
If a few folks can do that, I can forward our banner and cards and stuff direct to you to take along on Thursday, and we will take back with us on plane Sunday night.
We DO need to borrow a flat screen TV we can plug our laptops into, if someone might be able to loan us one locally - clearly we can't fly that down!
I have the SCART cable to connect the two.
This size home TV below is fine as you see here - here we were showing Arthur Gray how stampboards works!
If you can assist with any of this please chime in soon, so we can join up the dots, and get things moving - time MARCHES on!
MargoZ wrote:Just summarising the dinner list so far - 24 confirmed and PLEASE do so FAST if you also will join us, so we can give the venue an accurate number, to secure a large table, as Friday nights are a tough booking. :
