One that's been "up there" (for me) for the last couple of months is RobRoyH's commentary on "his day to day enthusiasm for the hobby".

Its an eclectic mix - some of which doesn't grab me at all (the fantasy stuff), but the all world stamp collecting, fiscal / revenues (especially individual states), and general enthusiasm for "all little bits of joy" is quite infectious.

(I'm loving the mix - who knows what tomorrow brings?).

So:

I linked to his first post on the thread in August, which finds his entourage at the Nebraska Stampshow......
to illustrate both the depth and quality of his "ramblings" (and I mean that in a good way) over the period.

Highly enjoyable, and commendable.

I would like to put forward Allanswood for this month.

The two threads below show just a small fraction of the art design and internet research that I have seen Allanswood do for the people on this board.

Allanswood
1)
http://www.stampboards.com/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=87597
Australia Kangaroo 1d Coil strip 4, Perf OS: info or origin?
and
2)
https://www.stampboards.com/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=66681
How to sort the 6 Australian Commonwealth Stamp Watermarks

1) I totally admire the skill that Allanswood has for doing the artwork for this thread and others on the board. The design for the first the watermark guide and then the perf gauge is great, it shows a lot of info, but is clear and does not look cluttered.

2) Doing family history research myself, I know the amount of hours that are put in looking for the relevant information needed. The old documents are a strain on the eyes and the brain and it can take hours to find just one piece of info.

Well done Allanswood and some great nominations again this month.

For those that have not followed it, Allanswood has spent many many hours via many adaptations to get to this version below. Never before have all the Australia watermarks been ACCURATELY artworked. What images are shown in stamp catalogues is pretty useless for novices to sort them, and have been wrong for 100+ years.
Image
It is almost in finished format now in his art above. We need to add some colour into it still etc. We will get 15,000 or 20,000 of these ran off in postcard size, on superb thick 350 gsm acid free board, and have them double laminated both sides, for long life and durability.

We will them distribute them globally via a large Auction house here in their worldwide catalogue mailings, and via ''Stamp News'' mailings, and I will use in all mailings from me, and pass on to members.

Perforation gauges and watermarks ID charts are the sort of thing collectors all keep as they are very useful, so the life of these will be decades - literally. All promoting stampboards, via our ad on the reverse. 8)

Without someone doing the accurate graphics, this would not have been possible.

I got the general idea from this appalling Ernie Weiner, VST mess below - lazy and poorly thought out, poorly laid out, and poorly implemented, with woeful watermark images graphics.

We never had perforations 7 and 8 and 9 etc here of course, but DO need to look up the heavily used perfs 13, 13.5, 14.5 and 15. No-one at VST thought about that.

Apart from being quite hopeless as a perf gauge, this blue horror below would have to take the prize as having THE most appalling photos of Aust watermarks EVER produced.

Absolutely diabolical! Watermark Photos 2 and 4 are of course the same thing in the real world! No-one using this could ever tell.

No wonder folks have trouble picking Australia watermarks apart!

For September's tip may I suggest the following for anyone living in humid climes eg Queensland. Stamp hinges have an annoying ability to stick together when left in open packets. Try to keep them in a sealed air-tight plastic bag in the fridge. I managed 4 months plus out of 1 packet, still sticking singly to my stamps.
I prefer to collect UK, British Commonwealth esp Pacific area ( not excluding West Indies/Canada ) and Western Europe. At the bottom of my zone of interest is Eastern Europe and communist countries.

Time to add some nominations for SEPTEMBER folks. :)

A reminder from post#1, this below is the ONLY way nominations are accepted -
GlenStephens wrote: You MUST add a specific link to the post or the thread concerned, with a reason why you think it deserves to win. Don't say: "Jim's post in mid month on the 1d black was pretty good."

So - what we need is this format, in all cases:

A thread link url, (and that to be coded "URL" in reply box so it can be cut and pasted by Mods) and exact title of that thread, (singular) and the member (singular) nominated within that thread, if not the thread starter.

So your nomination needs to look in THIS exact format below. Not dreamy vague "That interesting thread by Bob on Germany" etc.

Greaden
Ghost Countries Identifiable through Postmarks
http://www.stampboards.com/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=71175

All to be posted below on THIS thread. You can nominate more than 1 thread each month, and nominate more than 1 member if you so choose.

I would like to nominate ViccyVFU for September for his recent contribution to this thread:
My intact 1863 Justin Lallier stamp album. What should I do?
https://www.stampboards.com/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=80407

Not only was I seeing coloured images of many of the stamps for the first time, it also provided inspiration for an investigation into New Granada, which for me was previously terra incognita.

There will be many who will benefit from the preservation of those images.

Doesn't work like that Terry. If people think you are worth nominating, just wallow in the appreciation.

My nominations for September are the two day-in-day-out stamp bloggers
(in no particular order!).

For keeping me abreast of his post box liaisons, and incessant positivity:

Absolutely agree, and on that note I'd like to nominate didge for "Australia Decimal Stamp Definitive Series usage, 1966-1974".

This thread, coupled with Rod's insights along the way, make for compelling reading and also make fossicking in dealers bins here in the UK far more interesting :!:

I would like to second that vote. I have been enjoying all of Rob's posts in the above-mentioned Thread. I like the way the themes change almost daily from Revenues, to Cinderellas, to definitives etc etc. Very interesting.

I would like to Third that vote(if thirding is allowed/possible) I'm enjoying his stamp den projects.
I prefer to collect UK, British Commonwealth esp Pacific area ( not excluding West Indies/Canada ) and Western Europe. At the bottom of my zone of interest is Eastern Europe and communist countries.

Guys,

Only a few days left before October draws to a close.

Do we have any other nominations for this month?

Thank you! :)

I'd like to nominate didge for "Australia Decimal Stamp Definitive Series usage, 1966-1974".

Thread shows a lot of hard to find usages.

Would like to second that if I can, looking at that old album and those early stamps has made my week.
Militantly left wing and proud - but not a communist.
