I'd like to nominate Mobor for his "Man made Climate change" thread. It is a robust and, usually, civil, discussion of a very contentious topic. Also quite educational, although unrelated to stamps.

Well done to Tim, and an area he is still actively collecting. :)

A generation ago, all this material was near universally snipped for kiloware. Philately always keeps evolving.

Folks,

Thank you for the complements. Rod really did encourage me to start a post on what is essentially my 8 frame exhibit of this great series. After exhibiting it in Canberra following years of work and a very underwhelming response from the judges I was down in the dumps about exhibiting ever again.

I think there has been a bit of a turnaround in this thinking from the philatelic elite. I really hope this is true.

Thanks to all of the Stampboarders that have encouraged me along the way. This recognition is really appreciated. Andrew and David have been much appreciated friends from the other side of the world. Rod has been a huge supporter and contributer for 15 years.

Didge.

And if I may, I'd like to nominate Norm for a twelve year old thread that just won't die, and is all the better for it;

A Brief History Lesson on 1980 stamp prices?

It's a fascinating read and a salutary lesson for anyone who thinks investing in stamps is easy. It's also a great repository of the thoughts of some of the great philatelists and stamp collectors who are no longer with us.

Congratulations RobRoyH - as a worldwide collector trying to find the time I need to collect everything (!), I really do enjoy following that thread - both informative and entertaining.
Collecting used stamps and covers worldwide. Thematic focus: journalism (newspapers, television, radio, news agencies, etc), athletics (aka track and field) and refugee and migrant issues. Strong interest in covers and postal history of areas of the former Yugoslavia, Trieste (Zones A and B) and northeastern Italy.

I would like to nominate Cill Dara for his informative, unbiased and very much British posts on the Brexit thread. It is a pleasure to read them.
I prefer to collect UK, British Commonwealth esp Pacific area ( not excluding West Indies/Canada ) and Western Europe. At the bottom of my zone of interest is Eastern Europe and communist countries.

What a superb member handle choice. I'll refrain from making any Queenslander AND Irish jokes. (they both have common themes really.)

We do make allowances for both - and here we go for those slow readers -
GlenStephens wrote:
It can be an entire thread you nominate - even an old one. Or just one post WITHIN a thread.

You MUST add a specific link to the post or the thread concerned, with a reason why you think it deserves to win. Don't say: "Jim's post in mid month on the 1d black was pretty good."

So - what we need is, in all cases is:

A thread link url, (and that to be coded "URL" in reply box so it can be cut and pasted by Mods) and exact title of that thread, (singular) and the member (singular) nominated within that thread, if not the thread starter.

So your nomination needs to look in THIS exact format below. Not dreamy vague "That interesting thread by Bob on Germany" etc.

Greaden
Ghost Countries Identifiable through Postmarks
http://www.stampboards.com/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=71175

All to be posted in THAT format, on THIS thread. You can nominate more than 1 thread each month, and nominate more than 1 member if you so choose. If you can't be bothered to use this simple format, we can't be bothered to accept your nomination. :!: :!:

I would like to nominate member ELKRA who has run a Rugby Union competition weekly all year with wonderful prizes. See this thread as an example.

My nomination for December is someone who joined four years ago, and since then has consistently been sharing his collection of Vintage Albums .... both those in his collection, and presumably those on his "radar for acquisition".

Its often not until you "Set out to find a specific one, in excellent condition", that you appreciate how rare some of these examples are.

I'm enjoying every exhibit, and as you scroll back through the earlier posts, realise that Ries has set his standards at "very high indeed".

Good work.

In about 12 hours (depending on your location) members will welcome the new year. If you have not made your nomination for 2019, it's your last chance to do so. :D

Thank you everyone!
