Terry,

The quick answer is that images added to posts as attachments cannot be displayed adjacent to one another; each attachment will always start on a new line in the post. But, images added in the traditional manner using IMG tags can be placed exactly as required and displayed adjacent to one another.

I will try to explain the behaviour, by reference to what was contained in your original post and compare it to Kevin's reply quoting your images. Apologies, if it gets too technical.

Original

Code: Select all

[attachment=1]IMG_20181112_0005.jpg[/attachment] .... [attachment=0]IMG_20181112_0005.jpg[/attachment]
The original post uses Attachments which are only associated with the post that they are originally added to.

Reply using quote

Code: Select all

[img]./download/file.php?id=4138[/img] …. [img]./download/file.php?id=4139[/img]
But the quoted reply has converted them to IMG so that they can continue to be displayed in the QUOTE and, due to their original placement, they are displayed adjacent to one another.

Hope this helps.

Chris.

Thankyou for your help Chris. But what what EXACTLY is the traditional manner ?

Sorry, by "traditional" I meant the old way of adding images using links from Imageshack etc... before we could attach images directly to posts.

If the exact alignment of images in the post is vitally important to the meaning of the post and only then, that method is still available. Otherwise images should now ALWAYS be added by attaching them to posts.

Did the photo originally come from the iPhone? If so, it is a known issue. You may find for iPhone images, you will need to open them in another program (paint or your scanner software) and re-save to avoid this.

I have to do that with many iPhone images. They look OK on the phone and then rotate themselves for some unknown reason.

The simple solution is to always take your iPhone photo in landscape position with the home button on the right.

Hi everyone. New to stamps in general and first post on this forum and thought I'd start with picture of stamp I found in recently inherited collection
I think it is SG4, based on bit or research but want to learn.
I have other star examples but think this is the pick based on margins, Maltese etc.
Any views on value as I'm thinking of insurance

Recently I was working on a long post, with multiple images. I added the images from time to time, alternating with adding to the text to comment on the latest added image. I was close to finishing when I accidentally dragged the next image over the "attachments" area rather than over the text-entering area of the draft. The result was that the full screen was occupied be the dragged image. I couldn't remove it, and couldn't recover the draft I had worked on for several hours. In the end I had to give up, and start again next day, recreating the whole draft,

Have others had this problem? How do you solve it without losing all the work already completed?

(A related problem: I have not been able to use "save draft" successfully, as I encounter several difficulties. First, images aded to a draft seem to be lost if I use "save draft". Second, I'm not clear on how to resume using a saved draft to add to it and post on the original thread. How do I cope with those difficulties?)

Thanks for any clear help fellow Stampboarders might be able to give! :D

This is the wrong thread of course for such queries. However -

1. For long complex things do your work FIRST in Word etc where it will save readily. Add images LAST. When you have it all correct

2. In the CORRECT thread if you bother to read it, Yuriy has addressed Drafts. Almost no-one uses that feature, and it is buggy especially if you are messing about with attached images within a draft.

3. Read point #1.

From the other side of Australia, it looks as though a little more practice would help ;)

Have you tried using {centre}{/centre}?
(Here I've substituted { } brackets for [ ] so the comment prints.)

Asked the same question on another thread about the new board only solution was drop the two images into paint before you drop the images here as below inverted one to show that they are in one attachment.

Macky. Stampboards uploads the images at the exact size that they are in your file.
