Welcome Everyone to the, Guess the Song and Band/Artist Competition! :D

-------------------------------------------------------------
If there are any members that would like to make a guest appearance, i.e. post a song and artist (as Norm has done in the past) please let me know. :) Please stay safe everyone!
-------------------------------------------------------------

I am sure that many Stampboards' members listen to music and this would be a good way to test their musical knowledge.

These are the simple Rules for participation:

1. Stampboards member for 60 days.

2. Minimum 60 posts made on Stampboards.

3. Guess both the band/artist and the song title correctly to win the prize.

4. Once you have made a guess that is not correct, you can not make another guess until another participant has made a guess.

Now, I will post a part of a line from a verse (never the chorus) of the song in question. Furthermore, clues about the band/artist, time period of the song or band OR relevant images will be added (if required).

Why?

Well, if I posted the entire verse, or a line of a verse, any participant will be able to google it and win a prize. Would that be fair to everyone else?

That said, I would really appreciate if all the participants would be honest and not use google to look up songs.

Prize:

2017 - History of Hockey Souvenir Sheet mint or on cover

Image

This is a part of a line from a verse in a song. Everyone willing to take a guess is more than welcome. :) If there are no correct guesses within a day or two, I will add another clue.

"... feeling blue"

Good Luck to All!

Lot of songs with those words in. :) First one that came to mind is "Black is Black", Los Bravos (and assorted cover artists).

mozzerb,

You are right that there are many songs that include, "... feeling blue" as part of a line in the lyrics of a song. I have to say that your guess is very good :) , but that is not correct. :( I am sorry about that!

Probably wrong, but I am delighted to add ABBA to this thread. I think I might have mentioned them once or twice over the years.

Happy New Year.

An interesting song which I had to look up because I couldn't remember it.

Apparently the song is about Astrid Kirchherr, the German photographer and artist whom The Beatles befriended in Hamburg. She was engaged to the group’s first bass player, Stuart Sutcliffe, who died of a brain haemorrhage in April 1962.

Thanks for that sagi2917.

PS Before that extra clue I was thinking - "Paul Anka & Lonely Boy".

Brad, John and George

"They pick me up when I'm feeling blue" is a line from the song, "Sweet Home Alabama" by Lynyrd Skynrd. In 1977, Ronnie Van Zant, Steve Gaines, Cassie Gaines were killed in an airplane crash. The band abruptly ceased after the plane crash.

Congratulations Joy! :D

Wow! You are very good at guessing these songs and bands/artists. :D

I will mail your prize inside one of your previously won covers. Unless, you would like this sheet on a cover?

Thank you everyone!

One of the best lines in the Movie Con Air was from Steve Buscemi (who was playing a complete psychopath) when the criminals on the hijacked plane were singing Sweet Home Alabama:

"Define irony. Bunch of idiots dancing on a plane to a song made famous by a band that died in a plane crash."

I agree with Norm on this. It is amazing how they are still influencing music 50 years later. That is how ahead of their time they were.
