I just joined. Foolishly I might add, as I have no actual postcards in the house to send, and we are in a lockdown where purchasing postcards could prove impossible. Sigh.
Our Shoppers Drug Mart has a postal outlet and sells some postcards. Nothing too exciting, mind you.

I'm thinking of joining too. Are you planning on keeping the postcards intact as you receive them or harvesting the stamps from them?

Stamps depicting Postcrossing

Post by ana »

Not sure whether anyone here collects Postcrossing-themed stamps... but I thought I'd share the news that there are three new stamps coming out from Guernsey next week to celebrate the project's anniversary, and they are just super cute:

Image

They feature three animal species that can be found on the Bailiwick: the Golden Guernsey Goat, the Chancre Crab and the Herm Puffin, all mailing postcards around the islands on Guernsey’s blue mailboxes. :D They come with an cool Easter Egg too — the postcards are addressed (fictional addresses, but still) to members of the Postcrossing team.

More info here.

I wonder if anyone is actively collecting postcards received through Postcrossing. Are there collectors seeking out Postcrossing postcards others have received?

It just strikes me that this could be an interesting area of collecting.

I've received 5 postcards already, and plan on keeping them intact. Kind of neat seeing the world through the eyes of others.

A reproduction of a very historic photo of Charles Best and Frederick Banting, the canadian researchers who discovered Insulin and its deficiency causing diabetes mellitus, together with the Beagle cross they "cured' of diabetes by injecting it with Insulin. On the Card is Canada's latest stamp-Insulin 100 years later. I have no idea why, either my computer or this program manages every so often, to turn an image sideways when it is rightways up in my image file.

Ahoj to all trans!

Some weeks ago I was skimming through the thread titles and misread postcrossing as cross-dressing and the memory has lingered ever since. Am I dyslexic?

Cheers,

Honza

That was my fault Honza, I said I was a postcrosser, not a crossdresser, Forgive me for the bizarre ideas that sprang into your mind.

This is post 7997 for attention of RogerE.
I prefer to collect UK, British Commonwealth esp Pacific area ( not excluding West Indies/Canada ) and Western Europe. At the bottom of my zone of interest is Eastern Europe and communist countries.

Ahoj Waffle,

Nothing to do with you at all! The bizarre notion was triggered by a too-rapid skimming through the thread titles, but it seems I will be nevermore free of the association. Sorry!

Don't let me derail this thread any further.

Cheers,

Honza
