Hi KGVSLP,
Thanks for posting these two new additions to the census. I can't help with the identity of this perfin, but for the record, we only have the following private perfins in the census:

Examples 59 & 98: NZL

Example 60: CFS

Example 61: PLD (reversed)

Example 188: ED & Co

Example 269: LS
Always on the lookout for Australian pre decimal First Day Covers.

Thanks for adding these, much apprieciated.

The one with the RFIELD postmark is one we already have - number 225 in the census.

Is is my imagination, or was this originally in a vertical pair with the top right stamp, with the whole postmark being TENTERFIELD?

Very good guess.

My HUNCH is the date line is not quite the right orientation, but if someone with graphic skills adds them side by side we shall soon see.

Can't disagree, a stunning cover! I'll get this & all the others kindly added by KGVSLP loaded into the main census tonight.

We are creeping slowly towards the 300 mark, thanks again to everyone who has contributed to the census.

Australian KGV is not my area of interest, but aren't the top corners on that last ½d pictured a dead giveaway of a line perforated stamp without the need to refer it to a 1d stamp?

Especially since the seller noted the above stamp can be plated as 3L24 on his ebay listing.... and my stamp is plated as 3L18.

Not always a dead give-away.

I have seen examples where perfs have been deliberately pulled/altered to simulate a SLP.

Really - how truly interesting. Can you post just a single example please where square ended comb perf tips have been replicated to resemble pointy tip LINE perf ends, and irregular corners?

I'll bet my house you cannot offer even a single such plausible scan. You are just digging that hole deeper and deeper. You guessed wrong, and that is the end of the story. Anyone (else) can clearly see it was line perf.
