Not yet either at the local bureau nor at the india post site. Guess we need to wait for a fortnight.

The last set of 2019 - Embrioderies and Revenue will be available probably in a week so will check for 2020 information when I visit the GPO next.

Hey Guys,

You must have all received notifications from the admin / Glen on donations for the Bushfire - https://www.stampboards.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=89068

Just in case, anyone is not having PayPal or conversion / transfer fee problems and would need help, can transfer the donation in INR to my Indian Account and I will transfer via PayPal to Glen accordingly.

Once you have transferred the money to my account, plz post in the above thread "Donation made to Kenneth". All rules of that thread remain the same.

Remember any small amount also will help the cause. You can mail me for account details.

FANTASTIC suggestion Kenneth, and yes PayPal is not easy for all Indians to access, I had forgotten that.

Yes even 10 member donations of a few dollars each made direct to you by Rupee bank transfer certainly adds up fast, and will boost the appeal wonderfully. So hopefully many Indian based members do the needful!

Margo and I have been travelling around your wonderful country India in last few weeks, to The Andaman Islands, Chennai, Delhi, Agra, Jaipur, and last week in Kathmandu which is half full of Indians too of course!

Unlike those weak touring Cricketers we did not fall down with any stomach bugs etc. I think Kingfisher beer keeps them away! 8) 8)

One issue to look forward to this year is the joint issue with China on completion of 70 years of diplomatic relations - sometime around April. The neighbors last had a joint issue in 2008.

India seems to have a set of countries it does repeated joint issues with - Russia, France, South Africa, South Korea, Iran and now China :)

I personally love the concept and the more the better..

The 3rd joint issue with SA didn’t really happen as South Africa didn’t release the stamps from their end - it shouldn’t be counted?

The embroideries stamps are not being sold as singles - they’re hoping we’d buy the entire sheetlet at exorbitant amounts!

They are available only at major GPOs or selected philatelic bureaues. There were some for sale in the Ernakulam bureau. You can only buy them for 100 rs so 400 postcards.

It is also a fact that many postal workers don't know some terms. When I asked for an aerogramme in my H.P.O. he said" we don't sell Airmail covers here,go and buy some from stationery shops "

Other mystamps coming up are Indraprastha gas limited, Mahatma Gandhi - Sewagram and 3.3 billion tree planting campaign

Could any one please post the pictures of last issues - 200 years of Rajputana rifles and Jamshedpur city on here so we are up to date :D

Thanks for the pics DJCMH... looks like coronavirus has impacted new issues by India, almost a month now without one and no news either if anything is being planned, typically these involve launch Ceremonies With lots of officials and as they are reluctant to attend gatherings the dry spell will be resolved only once this is all done? Hmm a month has gone by since the last issue and the lockdown goes on (who knows if beginning of May is the end of it)
Looks like there won’t be any issues this month - pity there was a rumored joint issue which won’t happen now. Stay safe!

Latest update from India post based on their twitter handle

"The EMS / Speed Post service has been started for 105 countries" These are supposed to include all covered earlier before the lockdown.

The regular outbound mails abroad is still not in place it seems.

Sent a query to them to check if we are receiving inbound international regular mails but no response yet.

PS: have not received any domestic/international mails for over 2 months now

Best way for us to know was that Indian Mangoes were in supermarkets in 1st week of May :D

I had a registered letter posted at Jaipur on 20th Mar & next update that it reached Delhi on 11th May..

Once post offices open here after the Eid break, I hope to start getting items from India...

Received some letters and some registered mail today. All posted before lockdown. Post offices are working as usual, but I think they are only accepting emergency mails.
Are these domestic letters only or even international ones?
Both. Some letters from abroad and a few from North India.
Nice to hear. Eagerly looking forward for atleast one mail to trickle in 😀

I got a small envelope with 5 cards in it on 13th June..which was sent from Ludhiana on 3rd June. Thats fast considering the pandemic. It was sent by normal mail. Will send a small normal and registered post letter internationally sometime this week to test :?:

I know this isn't the place to post about this. But has anybody faced this issue? How did you tackle it?

I was sent a mail from Poland way before these corona issues. Registered. It was stuck in Bombay customs for weeks, then Kochi/Cochin customs..finally it made its way to me about a month later. I was asked to pay 1290/- INR as they valued the contents as 3000/- INR!!!
I met the customs appraising officer in person and submitted a letter explaining that it contained just CTOs and were extra stamps that did not cost anything. (...before I was slapped with this fee btw).
Its so unfair..and crazy!.
I sent few emails all over the country and finally received a phone call from the commissioner of customs who said that they valued it based on "the internet". They asked me to send a mail asking them to re-value the contents and write that the contents cost 600 rs. Which i refused. He also told me that there is a new rule since Feb that states that every registered mail will be subjected to customs duty..irrespective of wether gift or stamps is written on it. Any idea about that?
