Hi, Does anyone know where I might be able to get hold of some Sheaoak Log cancelled stamps / envelopes etc? My grandmother ran the post office there until it closed so am interested for family reasons.
Thanks.
Shea Oak Log is interesting in that it had probably the last use of a Diamond Numeral cancellation, first used in the 1800's, collectors came to know of this, and arranged covers to be produced, often in the late 1960's, so I do see these from time to time, I will keep my eye open for you.
Full time horse non-whisperer, post box searcher and lichen covered granite rock percher. Gee I'm handsome ! You gottem birds, butterflies, shells, maps, flags and heads on stamps ? Me wantem !

Regarding your "RES ADELAIDE" are you sure that's right ? Only thing that comes to mind without seeing the postmark is "REGISTERED ADELAIDE"
Cheers Bunge
As I mentioned in the original post, REGISTERED ADELAIDE was what came to mind, there are 3 different Squared Circle Cancels of this and a Bogus one of SC1
Your partial example is the 2nd SC cancel ~ Type SC2 - Rated C (51-99 copies considered to exist)
Here are 2 full cancels of my SC2 from 1898 & 1902

This really is a visual hobby so we ask that all posts asking a question include a scan or good photo of the item in question in the post rather than a link. You would be surprised how quickly answers are forthcoming when members know what is being discussed/asked about.
Scanned this into stock today with recent colour certificate - fine strike Barred Diamond “102” of tiny Normanville, on the 1855 SG #1 1d Dark Green stamp - high rarity rated “RRR”.
That PO was not even opened until 14/8/56, and the 102 numeral was only used there for a year or so before being replaced. (Stock 685JQ)

I saw this postmark in this small auction lot. It is a Largs Bay squared circle dated JA 17 87, so I think it is a quite early one. Is this one rated somehow? I`ll provide a closer scan, when I have the stamp in hands, but I thought the picture might be enough to find out the type of the postmark!?
Hi all, been looking through some of the Squared Circle postmarks that I have and located this one of Penong with a postmark of 24th August, 1914. Suggestion was that the SC postmark was used through to 2015 but no evidence of it. Hope this might aid research into the subject. Regards, Summo.

Here is a close up scan of the "Largs Bay" postmark. It case a code 2 and is dated JA 17 87. Does it have a rarity rating? Maybe someone if the experts can help?
This stamp shows a handwritten cancellation Koonunga South Australia. Are such manuscript cancellations common or is this just an example, where maybe the datestamp was not readable? Any info would be great!
Can't think what else it could be -unless the C was a G and it was Port Germein?
I have not really added to my meagre collection but i did pick these up over the weekend
The first type I assume for Mount Gambier dated MR 14 93 and a reasonable part strike of Yabmana xE x9 95 a cancel i did not have!
Saw this stamp and tried to use Retroreveal to figure out the cancel. It appear's to be Ford's, South Australia. Does anyone know the rarity on this? I'm afraid the picture isn't very revealing.
Fords
Type SC (Squared Circle)

10/5/1901 to 1938 (Known Usage) 10th of May 1901 not the other way around as Americans write it !!

Thanks, Bunge. Yeah, it's hard to see but has "ords" and with the late date can't be anything else. Too bad it's not a better example but might be my only chance at one.
An Index Number will be above the date, yours has no Index Number, your date is NO 2 which is November the 2nd 1914, and Index Number would be above that..
In the case of Moockra, it either has - no index, or it has an index 2
I'll give you an example of one of mine - St. Peters with an Index Number 2
St. Peters -Index 2

Reason:Added pars and spacing and “air” – always a superb idea on Bulletin Boards!

Sorting through some state stamps today and found these - so thought they belonged here, fascinating thread! (Is the bottom right squared cancel? Any comment on them welcome ...)

Just came across this one not in perfect condition but i think a pretty rare cancel - Pandurra
OC 8 1895 I think? It was in a collection I bought of all sorts of Australian States I had seen this and thought it was pretty scarce so fingers crossed....
Well done Lundy! Pandurra is one of the very rare South Australia squared circle cancels, the office only open for two years from 1895-97. The ERD is probably claimable by yourself (8.10.1895?) and the LRD is 20.10.1896. So, a great find Lundy! This one is missing from my collection at the moment too. Rated 4R in the Philatelic Society of South Australia handbooks.
Yay! Thanks Mike, I didn't have it either... and took quite a big punt (as the lot it was in cost about £140) but I saw this and thought worst case this would help towards making it a reasonable buy! Lots of other cheap but useful bits as added here: https://www.stampboards.com/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=64669
Thanks again for confirming I have not picked up any new ones for a while so this was good news
I had a look of your other purchases from the same lot and I'd say that you had a great buy at ₤140 for the lot as there is also much value in some of the other numerals from NSW and Tasmania.
As for the Pandurra cancel, I would have gladly paid double plus what you paid for the lot. It is surely a 'rare beast'. Incidentally, Pandurra is a huge sheep station situated some 40km from Port Augusta, and semi-arid and harsh environment. It is not far from Iron Knob.
That's good to know, the Tasmania numerals on pictorials are tough.... I don't have many at all... I do need to get the SA handbooks at some point but collecting so widely (and not really selling) means I slowly add to my library of literature....
Thanks for the additional information about Pandurra as well...
Another good find! (no pun intended!). This time a squared cancel of 'Goode', S.A. on 1d. George V, rated 3R. The latest date recorded is November, 1916. I make this one as reading 23rd March 1917, so it is the LRD for this cancel by some 4 months.
