The 1986 mini sheet issue to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the Spitfire. The Spitfire was not a very successful carrier aircraft primarily due to the narrow undercarriage. The aircraft featured on the sheet is a Seafire which was developed with folding wings for carrier use.

My latest purchase, a present to myself for my 70th birthday on Sunday! Issued in 1983 the aircraft featured are a Mignet HM14 and a Caudron C-600. This mint pair will slide very nicely alongside the 'used' couple in the album.

France issued an airmail postage stamp on 12 November 2018. The aircraft is not identified but I suspect a Spad, possibly an S.XIII.

A new set for my album. Issued in 1953 by the Dominican Republic to celebrate the 460th Anniversary of Colombus's discovery of Santo Domingo. The stamp features a DC 6 over the Colombus Lighthouse.

Italy issued a postage stamp on 23 March 2018 commemorating the 90th anniversary of the Airship Italian exploration to the North Pole.

This Austrian mini sheet was issued in 2018 to celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the first airmail. 115,000 were printed. The stamp features the Hansa Brandenburg C1 aircraft, a two-seater armed single-engine reconnaissance biplane designed by Ernst Heinkel. It is reported to have good handling characteristics and was an improvement in performance of aircraft at that time due to the introduction of more powerful engines.

To be frank, I am not really sure. Tried to research it but can't find anything as yet. Perhaps someone else reading these posts will be able to help out. My best guess is that it was an addition levy as a fundraiser. NZ used to issue health stamps with an extra charge that went to help fund the camps for kids in need. Sorry I can't be of more help.

A nice Guinea-Bissau minisheet. Issued in 2012, the stamp features an F4F Wildcat while on the sheet itself there is an F6F Hellcat that has just taken off from the USS Lexington aircraft carrier.

Another new addition to my album. A 1995 issue from Cambodia featuring a B-17E. This version of the B-17 was extensively modified with the fuselage extended by three metres with a much larger rear fuselage that included a rear gunner. The changes also included an increase in the size of the vertical fin, rudder and horizontal stabilizer which increased the weight of the aircraft by 20%.

I have a couple of postcards from the Isle of Sheppey, Kent that may be of interest.

The first is the winner of the Gordon Bennett Aviation race at Eastchurch in 1911.It shows the winning plane Nieuport 2.

The Short Brothers produced aircraft at Eastchurch for a number of years. Some were float planes. The card below shows a Shorts pusher float plane being towed by rowing boats not long after being launched. The back of the card has written in pencil "As seen at Sheerness, Aug 20th, 1912".

These Short Brothers planes were probably some of the first produced in Britain, the design was heavily based on the Wright Brothers flyer.

A couple of special issues from Cambodia. First, issued in 1994, features the 80th anniversary of the "Premier multimoteur Ilia Mourometz". The portrait is of I.I.Sikorsky, perhaps more well known for his helicopter designs.

Second, a 1992 Cambodia issue featuring a portrait of Leonardo da Vinci and a proposed manmade flying machine. Unsure of the aircraft type at top right.
