Show us your HORSES on stamps and stationery

Post by fanny horse »

Hello to all

I collect postage stamps and other philatelic materials (FDC, pre-stamped postcards and envelopes, pictorial postmarks, Maxi Cards and ect.) with depicting horses and horse symbols on postage stamps.

I collect any horses and subtopic: horse breed, equestrian sport, horse in transport, military, circus, agriculture and different kind of arts, chess and symbols.

Also I'm working under own site - Horse on stamps https://www.horse-stamps.narod.ru" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

It's free on-line thematic catalog devoted to HORSES in philately.
Catalog include good pictures of stamps and different information - world catalog numbers, technical details, plot's descriptions and other interesting things.

Now represent nearly 2 000 stamps issues from 150 countries

Image Image ImageImage Image Image Image Image Image Image

Catalogue include also information about Postal stationery (Postcards and Envelopes), pictorial postmarks and Firs Day Covers - this part is not very large and based on Soviet and Russian materials and items from Ex-USSR countries

For example

Image] Image Image Image Image Image Image

Some postmarks

Image Image Image Image

Now I want to extend this part, so I'm looking for information on post envelopes and postcards, aerogrammes, FDC and maximum cards, special postmarks (cancellation) of different countries with depicting horses and horse symbols as well as their pictures of good quality.

I shall be grateful for any help.

Right now I'm working under Australian materials

Image Image

stamps - https://horse-stamps.narod.ru/country/austral-en.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; - check it, may be you knew more horses on Australian stamps?

Here https://horse-stamps.narod.ru/covers/kom/australia-kom.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; pre-stamped envelopes
and aerogrammes https://horse-stamps.narod.ru/covers/aerogr/australia-aerogr.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Image

Image

Unfortunately I don't have complete information about these items, look like occasion of issue, date, name of designer, size, printing quantity etс.

And I have a lot of question about Australian pictorial postmarks

Image

So if somebody have good pictures and useful information post it here please

Wow!! Wonderful double-side pre-paid postcard! Fromdownunder thanks a lot.

I don't knew that Australia Post issued such cards May I use your pictures for my catalogue?

Now I posted on my site only 5 pre-paid envelopes and 2 aerogrammes :(

Image

On back-side of cover often write information about envelopes, is it clear for Australian envelopes?

If somebody knew more horse item please tell me!

Yes Australian PSEs do have information on the back. The only one I can find at the moment is the South Australia Police Anniversary (top right). I am certain I have the others somewhere but unfortunately that somewhere could be anywhere.

Here is (part of) the obverse side:

You've presumably seen the 1978 set of four Maxicards?
And you know that the name of the horse on the 1935 Silber Jubilee of King George V was "Anzac"?

Tonymacg thank you for good pictures

Fromdownunder thank you for posting pleasant covers and them text descriptions!
I am certain I have the others somewhere but unfortunately that somewhere could be anywhere.
:D

Am I right CSIRO-postcard isn't pre-stamped. I didn't see value on "stamp" at the corner

I see PSE text descriptions attentively - they are consist interesting information about occasion of issue and plots, and about designer too. But I still need catalogue number, date of issue, size and printing quantity, if it possible

Jimdotwalker Yes, I knew this nice set of Maxicards and have good pictures, but haven't it in my collection yet :(

I knew about name of the horse - "Anzac". I use Michel catalogue and it's give this info in stamp's description. But why Anzac so famous I don't knew :?:

Request to moderator: please return the original name of thread - "Horses in Philately". There aren't only Australian materials here now :D

Thanks uncadonego but how about stationeries or pictoriial postmarks ?
All stamps we can find in world catalogues Michel or SG or Scott. Topical collector knew stamps by his topic in common.

Postal stationeries and postmarks more interesting because sometime they are "terra incognita" A lot of interesting discoveries waiting you in this way :D

You are from Canada. How about Canadian PSE or postcards with horse ?

Jaipur State in India for many years used the motif of the Sun God, Surya, driving his horse chariot (the horse was also divine, so a little different from earthly horses) on its stamps and postal stationery.

This is an example of the Jaipur postcards:

and here is the detail of the stamp:

This is an example of the envelopes (usually poorly printed, unfortunately)

and here is the detail of the stamp:

And for comparison, here is one of the postage stamps in this design:

I don't have horse stationery, just stamps. I was foolishly posting horses on stamps here because I was confused by the title of the thread (you know, the part that says: "show us your horses on stamps" and the fact that others were also posting their scans of horse stamps.
In fact it was you who directed me to this thread when I asked on the "Horse-drawn" thread if I should start a horse topical thread to post my horse stamps.
By the way, I could be wrong, but I believe every stamp scanned and shown on this thread and every other thread in the "Share with others here your NICE looking stamp and cover images" heading could be seen in catalogues, so the point seems moot.
