Fort Defiance Arizona, the first military post in Arizona & the subject of two major Indian attacks in the 1850's. It is about 20 miles north east of Ganado.
Image
The cover is addressed to Rev Roger Huser, who appears to be someone of note. I have over 50 JFK FDCs, type addressed, hand addressed, with cachets, & without cachets from Arizona, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, New Mexico. Ohio & Texas addressed to him. I cannot imagine how he could have arranged all of them personally without the help of philatelic friends & family.

Nice machine slogan cancel "ABCD Mail for Better Business Service" on a Centennial Cachet Capital City series. Note the date stamp is larger than that of the one on the Bilarth cachet & it has 1A next to 29th May, where there is no such marking on the Bilarth cachet cover date stamp. Compton California is in southern LA County & one of the oldest cities in the County. It was popularised in the 1980's due to the large number of "hip hop artists & rappers" that came from the area.

Costa Mesa California is a former farming community, dating back to Spanish settlement in 1776. It is 37 miles south east of LA & has an interesting sister city in "Wyndham Australia"

Not one of the FDC’s but hopefully still of interest. Postmarked 2 days before the famous “Ich bin ein Berliner” speech at Bonn 23.6.63

Who’s signature is that on the front? The picture is JFK with Willy Brandt the German Chancellor.

Covino California is a small city 22 miles east of LA. The city area is one square mile, hence the city's slogan "One mile square & it's all there"!

Coyote California is an unincorporated community between San Jose & Morgan Hill. So named because of the large number of coyotes in the area. We should think ourselves lucky they don't name all towns in this way. Coyote has a small post office.
