In These Blue times. Do you have a favorite BLUE stamp?

Post by madstampguy »

Hi Folks,
was just thinking about the situation we are all in.

It made me think of Blue stamps.

How about showing your favourite Blue stamp?

Blue only, no other colour and from your collection, what do you say?

I'll kick it off with mine.

Edifil 1076 from 1950

Image

Please join in and show us yours.

(maybe we could do another colour of a members choice next :D )

Best regards, Mark

I am a fickle person I suppose. If asked any kind of favorite stamp question, my answer will vary based largely on the most recent stamp I have seen.

A favorite blue stamp.....

Why exactly might this be a favorite stamp?

The striking dark blue works very well to hide the Stamp Den clutter, plus I think my head looks rather nice replacing the central vignette. Excellent design overall!

Although I don't have this stamp, (not my collecting area), feel this is a remarkable design for the period, when many stamps were very ornate:

One of my blue favourites from Crete:

The straight line RETHYMNON is a postmark.

The purple circular mark is a control mark applied before the stamps were issued.

The grey lines are ruled pencil lines used to help line up the handstamp when the stamp was printed.

Being just a bit of a bird fanatic I have already posted the Blue Wren.

However, my first reaction was the bluenose and then I thought I should select something Australian. There are many good ones but this is the one which immediately sprang to mind.
