Links to online stamp auctions from OUR members.

Post by admin »

This came from a good suggestion from Sam Kelly, (and fine tuned by Brummie and OttawaMike) who said buying from other members might often appeal.

We have offered this ability for years via another thread here of course, but those offers were sometimes mixed up with other offers.

And too many members here were just adding links to all their current on sale lots. All auctions allow you to subscribe to new listings by any specfic sellers, so do that for those guys.

We do ask that common sense reigns here, and if you list a few interesting items, add a direct link to them - with a photo if you wish, but NOT the auction house photo links which will vanish in a few weeks, making the thread meaningless to everyone, thereafter.

Nor do we want to see 46 lots in a line etc, nor simply a general link to all lots you might offer .. this thread is for SPECIFIC lots that you have listed, that YOU feel might interest others. :D

A Hagner sheet of Western Australia duty stamps, a cigar box of 1d green KGV heads, or stockbook of Triangular stamps etc. That kind of thing is envisaged.

Glen

Some nice sets here, To much emphasis is placed on the "scarce and rare" in collecting today. It was not an issue 20 years ago. Items like these make it extremley cheap, for $20 why not buy something like this and put it away, after all in todays economic climate whats $20 TO $50 MATTER :?:, It's for a good cause, we as Stampboarders should support it

I have just added a very recent Australia Kiloware lot (just over 100 grams). It is right up to date with most stamps with circular cancels and plenty of sheet stamps are present.

Listed a few hours ago and there are already 4 watchers. EDIT: 26 hours since listed and 12 watchers. :D

If you have seen audrasforrest's kiloware sell, you will know this will go off like there is a bomb under it as the quality of this lot is far superior.

Again the proceeds go to the charity.

Captain James Cook's Voyages of Discovery

Post by DJM »

Hi All,

Will be listing these three stamps in my Ebay shop if anyone is interested, didn't think they were worth enough to put on Stampboards :D -

The first is a nice Cook Cancel , the second stamp has a listed variety of 'Diagonal Black line right of Kangaroo' and the third stamp has a variety '(Vertical) Red Mark from second 'A' of Australia'. This variety was listed in the 42nd Edition of ACSC but not the latest one. It also has 'Double Spear' variety which is only supposed to be in the minisheet.

Gentleman, I don't think thats what Darren means.

Look closely above and between the L and D of the Mildura CDS and there seems to be a second parrallel line running about 1 cm from the other one on the right toward the shoulder of the Kangaroo.

And in the second stamp there is a feint red line running down the stamp from below the a in Australia vertically almost to the bottom of the stamp.

Is that what you meant Darren? Its not the double spear, its a print/scratch/plate break?

Hi All,

I should have said that the 'double spear' was more a 'seems to be' rather than a definate. I was only going by the ACSC (which isn't all that clear), and the spear I'm talking about in the third stamp has a red line running down the middle of it, making it look like 'two' spears (to me anyway, with a bit of wishful thinking :D .

I certainly wouldn't advertise it for sale as being the 'Double spear' variety because I was not 100% sure myself.

Do you have an example of the 'double spear' you could show Glen ????

Darrin.

Catalogue value £2,400 = about A$4,000

Starting price just 10% of CV.

Hi Pom!
I dont know how other ebayers use the search function on ebay, but I would never find that collection normally as there is no Australia in the title (or Kangaroos or KGV)?

Aren't you limiting your exposure to potential sales?

Its a good looking set though.

I would never use ebay's search function to look for anything - as is shown above, you are then relying on the search terms being present in the item title.

If you look at the "KGV Heads" listings, not many of them actually have "KGV Head" in the item title.

Let's say you're after a KGV 4d Violet single watermark MUH, it might be described as one of the many possible permutations of "4d Violet", "SG 64", "Sc 32" and "Mint unhinged", "MUH", "NH", "MNH", "UHM" or something along those lines. The chances of your search term matching up with what the seller has written are quite low.

I think most ebayers go to the categories that interest them and browse through the listings looking for something that they might want to bid on.

Cheers
Chris

Yeah I understand Martin. I rarely sell and normally just get rid of the lot. I'm off again next week and the other half will have to ship them when they sell! I need a new job away from the ocean

1966 Captain Cook Block & Variety

Post by DJM »

Hi All,

For those interested in the 'Navigators' stamps, I have a MNH 1966 Captain Cook Bottom Left block of 4 that has TWO varieties listed on Ebay. The top left stamp has a Colour flaw left of 'A' of Australia and the Top Right stamp has the 'Curled 'c' in Cents' variety.

The "Hooked c" is plated as Pl3 ShA, R1/4. i.e. the 4th stamp on row 1 of the sheet, so it can't be that variety by definition.

You may have ShA R9/1 "Recutting on map over RA of AUSTRALIA", I'd take a second look at this one!

Thanks Chris,

The hooked 'C' is definately there on the Top right stamp, but for the left stamp I couldn't really tell if it was 'recut' or just a 'colour flaw' (ACSC version looked a bit different to my stamp)

No problem to change the description.

for those who, like me, are dealing with Indian philately :

http://cgi.ebay.fr/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=230457751567&ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Too many scans to post here, but you can also look for my others Indian lots (imperfs, later issues...)

Great lots. I like friendly sellers like this gentleman: "Ask for better quality pics"

BTW, how do you add pictures to the discription area? Thank you!

I use the Auctiva selling tools. You pay 9$ a month for that and it simplify everything.
One great feature is the big size pics like those you've seen in the description area.
I give sometimes better quality pics on demand, because even Auctiva limits the size of the pictures.

Richard went straight back and tore that op shop apart. (Probably hoping to find the bags with the bi-colour Kangaroos.) Not one more stamp item in the place.

The next best stamp in the bag was a 7/- 6d Cook.
