Over 250 mostly earlier Australian philatelic covers, souvenir/commem and FDCs, many seldom seen, closing on eBay during next week.

For those who have asked: "Where are all the commercial covers?", they will come . . . in the fullness of time.

In the meantime, others have wondered when will the philatelic covers run out? They will, and soon.

Image

1948 1d Princess No wmk block rare Challis self-addressed Marriage souvenir cover. Not to be confused with the more readily available wmkd. issue FDC. I think this is a pretty special cover:

https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/201597273300?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649

Image

1947 Newcastle set Smyth FDC rare registered at Industrial Fair Newcastle (note dedicated cds/provisional registration label). The stamps were issued on the third day of the Fair, so it took some initiative to have this cover serviced at that event. Just two examples seen by me:

https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/201597247422?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649

Image

1947 Newcastle set Smyth FDC rare red omitted ("FIRST DAY COVER/8TH SEPTEMBER, 1947") error (same cover type as above):

https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/201597249600?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649

Image

1948 Farrer Bodin rare long FDC card (166mm) self addressed:

https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/201597734177?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649

Image

1948 von Mueller imprint block Bodin rare card (147mm) FDC unaddressed, cancelled Melbourne/22 cds (Philatelic Bureau):

https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/201597746663?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649

Image

1950 £2 Arms Bodin FDC unused - rare - very few seen serviced:

https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/201597788536?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649

Always the same deal, signature AU$9.99 starting price, no reserves, no nonsense.

Hello,

Over the past few years I have listed all of my overflow and extra stamps on Delcampe.net, mainly pre-1970s, with a large selection of British Commonweath.

I would like to offer a further 30% off to any Stampboards member.
If you were interested in a large number of items for your collection, please let me know.

Thank you. Good collecting!

Just listed a huge US collection 1871-2006 in 3 very large heavy stockbooks.

some faults on some earlies as seen but others in great condition. Plenty to go at for a reseller.

cv is roughly £5000 without checking grills or varieties.

Over 800 lots of mostly Australia philatelic and commercial covers, many of the less usually seen kind, posted this week. Even some stamp varieties.

Remember the name: rap_com_au, signature start price AU$9.99, no reserves, no nonsense.

I encourage SB members to let me know via internal email system what they would like me to post on eBay (I have only Australia-related). I’ll try and accommodate.

Over 100 Australia Stamped-to-order Stationery (STO: formerly known as PTPO) items just listed. If scarce to rare items for 10 bucks a piece are your forte, you probably ought to visit.

The ACSC Stationery catalogue has opened up this field like never before. There are more "sleepers" in Stationery than there are in Australian Traditional Philately.

Wonderful dilemma: KGV Stationery Official Envelope issued 1930, used in 1954 to receive slogan cancellation "AUSTRALIA CELEBRATES/1954/ROYAL VISIT".

Ironically, it was the Royal granddaughter, HRH QEII, who in fact fulfilled the Visit, two generations after the reign of the "stamp" subject.

Buying a Canon Lide scanner, and dumping your 1962 Polaroid Land Camera would be a perfect starting point. An appalling scan i if you except bidders and sales.
LOL

Sad thing is, it is a Canon scanner. :( I must have some setting not correct.

1- You must scan at at least 300dpi, yours look like 100 and then blown out of focus.

2- I know it might be viewed as petty, but always straighten each image - the back is tilted and my eyes just groan.

3- Is it a Canadian decsription 'thing'? You haven't actually said it's mint or with any gum.

C'mon, George, a Wedding anniversary deserves more than just "one" item.

Why not one for each memorable year?

Better still: have your wife select her favourite item from my current offering, and I will be delighted to provide it with my best wishes for the special occasion.

Anyways feedback appreciated as I am still "learning the ropes" about putting stuff up for online auction.

How about a nice Penny Black?

Post by erich »

I am back to listing on eBay after a bit of an absence, so why not start off with a nice 4-margin Penny Black?

Plate 1B, on a small piece with black Maltese Cross cancel. Comes with a German photo certificate indicating it is genuine and fault-free. It's a little too close at the bottom right for me to say "SUPERB 4 HUGE MARGINS!!!" :)

On eBay starting at 99 cents. https://www.ebay.com/itm/GB-Penny-Black-VF-Used-On-Piece-4-Ma ... RK:MESE:IT

eBay buyers generally do not associate my listings as including Australian traditional stamps (covers are my forte), but I have remnants of a reference accumulation from my days as ACSC publisher, and quite a few less usual items are now listed for auction:

Exceptional group of Australian Decimal FDCs just posted on eBay. Many elusive cachets, generics, etc. Specialists will be impressed (promise!). Probably not optimal selection follows, but indicative:

One of the raunchier Australia FDCs (it is Art, by Goya!), a contemporaneously brave initiative by Mappin & Curran of Melbourne

And, in case you missed it, another derivative
