Yet another peanut brain "I've got one which looks like that" puts up 10 cent kiddies junk at a stupidly insane price.

alainb1699 is asking EUR1,500 for this Russian stamp, which actually does have a relatively scarce perforation variety as a distant cousin. This one is not that stamp of course, and the sellers true ignorance can be found from his description:

I am beginning to think that film-shelf-dvd is the biggest eBay dill of all time, and how he is even capable of using a camera and a keyboard boggles the mind. I say this because I think he is deadly serious about his stamps and "prices" which are all absolutely ludicrous.

He seems to have about three different spiels:

1. He was told it was worth more, but is offering it cheap for a quick sale because he is moving.

The first part of this statement is of course a flat out lie, because he could not find anybody stupider than him to tell him that with a straight face. The second part is probably true, but if he is waiting for stamp sales to help pay for his move, he will never move.

2. He hasn't got time to go to an Auction House, so grab a bargain.

Of course an Auction House would (probably already has) tell him what his stamps are really worth - nothing. And in the time he has been putting stuff on eBay an ant with two broken legs could have walked to an Auction House and back.

3. Mounted, will be carefully taken off book with mount attached.

His latest stuff is junk in an old worthless Kids Kollection, and he carefully, dare I say lovingly, masks all surrounding stamps, takes a photo of each one for sale and offers them one at a time all at totally insane prices.

I am delighted that he wastes so much of his time doing this. I suppose a decade or so from now it just...might...occur...to...him... WHY his stamps aren't selling.

Today's example of his latest pathetic technique:

Image

Yours for "only" GBP 150.00, and I am happy that he has said that it will be carefully taken from the book. After all, we would not want the stamp to become damaged.

1930s Irish old stamp, "Scott 68b" or "SG 74b"? not sure but stamp date of 30 Jun 1936...may be a good indication.
This is from an Estate album with very old stamps I got possession of. If intrested ask for more photos. I will endeavour to do my best.

I prefer local pickup but can post. I do not have a certificate and do not know anything about stamps. I only googled some info. Buy only if you know what you are doing as I don't. I am happpy and welcome some education on the topic.
"Scott 68b" or "SG 74b"

It's not.

"I do not...know anything about stamps.

True

"I am happpy and welcome some education on the topic."

The one you are trying to sell is worth maybe a cent. Here is a real one. Spot the difference.

Re: eBay and Other On-Line Dreamers - A Photo Lot Compendium

This one needs a bit of background.

It starts with the Austrian 1851 Red Mercury Newspaper stamp, worth in the order of $75,000 USD.

Image

Moving on, the catawiki site, which has an incorrect scan illustrating the stamp has the following text.
The Red Mercury stamp is extremely valuable due to its rarity. Rather than a postage stamp, the Red Mercury was used for mailing newspapers. These stamps possess an image of the Roman god and were printed in yellow, red and blue depending on a number of newspapers in the bundle. However, the Red Mercury was short lived and was soon replaced, which is why so few copies have survived and why they hold such a high value of €37,000.
The problem is that catawiki has a photo of this common St Lucia 1949 UPU Centenary instead of the 1851 Austrian stamp.

Image

https://www.catawiki.com/stories/4461-the-top-10-most-expensive-stamps-in-the-world

......................................................................................
Now along comes a complete drip, federicbertolon-0 , who knows less than nothing, and puts this stamp on eBay for EUR1,500 in a 24 hour auction.

Image

So far so good, as an incorrect article on tha intratubes (who woulda thunk that it was possible to find incorrect information on the WWW) led him to believe this was his find of a lifetime.

But, not content with not selling it, and what really makes him a drip, he created no less than four shill accounts, and made 19 bids (including seven automatic bids) to bid it up to EUR4,510. I assume that he thought the "real" bidders would jump in and buy it.

None of his buyers have any bidding history on anything, and neither the seller, nor the bidders have been seen before or since. I really hope he got stuck with the sale fee for this item, although he probably appealed as a "no payment", but it would really be nice if he had to fight eBay to get his money back.

No link, as it will vanish shortly, but it was item no. 273799798071. And for interest sake, one of his most recent feedback was this neutral -

"pessime condizioni,con difetti d funzionamento.Contattato venditore,non risponde"

Somebody has spent a lot of time on presentation for this lot of very ordinary cheap stamps. I am sure that PSE would grade it at 100 and mathematically perfect. There are 12 scans. I have only loaded two of them, and none of the others are notably better or worse presentation or stamp wise.

Unfortunately the asking price of USA$2,800 sought by zero feedback seller halassi is $2,800 more than the stamps are worth, and despite his disclaimer that the 317 stamps are in good condition, some are obviously damaged.

Image

Image

There must have been many hours of work in making this stuff look as pleasing to the eye as it does. Perhaps that is why the price is so high - charging for the work, not the stamps. Pity that the stamps all have zero market value.

This stamp is worth around $1.00. carlo332010 is offering it for GBP480.00 with this somewhat inaccurate description. Since this eBayer has a lot of stamps for sale, you would assume some knowledge on the subject. Apparently not.
Usa 24 Cents rarity and error!

A very interesting US 24 cents stamp - this stamp has an unusually rarely stamped seal. In the shape of an airplane. Rareness. The stamp is in good condition . Stamp have a different type stamped
1. It is a Philippines stamp not a USA stamp.
2. It is not an unusual "seal". It is an intentional overprint on a postage stamp to indicate its use as an airmail stamp. It was issued from the Post Office that way.
3. It is quite common. It is worth about $1.00
4. The "different type stamped". What is that supposed to even mean?
5. What is the error supposed to be? Just a bonus word in the header?

...and now for something completely different...

What in the world could you ever do with 50,000 Australian common one cent decimal stamps, offered for over 10 cents each? One cent each would be excessive for things that are utterly useless bits of paper.

gho5trobert is asking AU$5,800 for a big slab of full sheets (total 50,000 stamps, face value $500) for stamps where a market for this sort of stuff simply does not exist any more . He will look at best offers, but I seriously cannot imagine offering anything for these. Not even good for postage. Best used as BBQ starter or maybe for insulation.

Seller suggests that "Unlikely this item will ever appear again 50,000 unused". Why am I not surprised?

There has been what might be termed a “fail cascade” here:

This seller, jacwhyle0, has this piece of optimism for sale at £400.

Unfortunately, dolf10 has got it wrong as well. This is the fully imperforate type, ex. the 1940’s note printing branch thefts, CV A$475.

What they both think they’ve got is this, the genuine error as listed by bloxhamstamps:

I have a sneaking suspicion that franciemilligan does not know what (s)he is talking about, and that the asking price of GBP395.00 is a little ambitious. I don't really know why though...

Why would anyone need 50,000 1 cent stamps at a time when standard postage was at 20 - 24 cents? How many 1 cent stamps did they need to print?

Either way, it may unique, but the face value would make it gimmicky rather than collectable, if it was $1 stamps, maybe. Anyway the price is dreamery and should be FV or much less like say $250. Someone may buy them to search for colour shifts, perf mistakes etc.

Now this one is just plain funny. 1storyshopllc is offering a small group of spent circuit sheets, apparently originally priced as US $892.12 for US $399.99

Image
Image
Huge Vintage Stamp Collection Great Value!!!

This auction is for a Huge Vintage Stamp Collection. This awesome vintage stamp collection is pre-owned and shows light wear as can be seen in the pictures, but is in good condition overall. This cool collection is exactly as pictured, would make a terrific addition to any collection or gift for the collector in your life, and includes both stamps from the U.S. as well as from several other countries. Honestly, I know very little about stamps, but have included as many pictures as possible so you can get an idea of what is included in this lot. This collection belonged to my grandfather, and appears to include eleven separate booklets of stamps, along with a collector’s guide book. According to the figures recorded on the front of the booklets, this collection was valued at $892.12 when evaluated, though I am not knowledgeable enough to say whether that total might have increased or decreased over time. You won’t find many collections like this, so don’t pass this up! Happy bidding!!!
(bolding mine)

Now for me at least circuit sheets are usually pretty good, although describing it as a collection, huge, awesome, and cool is simply wrong. But I have purchased thousands of spent circuit sheets over the years, and mostly got nice cheap stuff going through these things and spending hundreds of happy hours doing so.

But the seller overlooked a minor point:

Image

Image

Yes, most of the stamps are missing, sold when these things were making the rounds. Who knows what is left, but on one of the pages above, the original owner sold the lot. There is no THERE there. All that is left are buyer marks.

The seller does not, as claimed, know very little about stamps, he does not even know what a stamp is.

Actually, the outer board covering with RESERVE BANK printing must be quite scarce.

Difficult to display unless they introduce 3-dimensional exhibiting. LOL.

This is a "huh?"

Normal Miniature sheet, FDC, pretty easy to get hold of for a very few dollars.

Described by mitc-easti as "Australia Fiscal Stamps: Interesting Item Mint - Rare (d397)" with as asking price of AU$500! Huh?

shebythes_0 has these 2 rarities for sale.

The 1½d KGV red is so rare that it has never been identified before.
Surely it should be worth $20,000 or $30,000 minimum.
I am sure there will be a lot of bidders fighting for this UNIQUE STAMP as the starting price is a mere $262.

Image

Image

Then we have this gem of a 2d Rose-Red on "translucent paper" starting at a mere $627.
I think shebythes_0 may be referring to the translucent paper sticking out from the edges
or maybe the hole between the "L" and "I" of "AUSTRALIA".

Image

Image

These are the only 2 stamps that shebythes_0 has ever tried to sell on Ebay.

The only other items that shebythes_0 sells are women's and children's clothing.

I think that shebythes_0 should stick to these.

I think that some people must like to think they know something, then put up a listing that makes them look like brain damaged morons. Case in point is jhbi29 who wants US $999.99 for this picked over junk barely worth setting on fire.
Huge Collection Of 63 Rare 1840 + Antique United States Stamps US Lot

All 63 Are In Good Condition

Huge collection = 63 stamps?
1840 on = well that is true but not in the way he thinks (can he think?)

But the icing on the cake is "All 63 Are In Good Condition" Let's take a look:

Pretty cheap common stamps anyway, but many damaged beyond even the "space filler" category.

Using 1 cent stamps on letters would be silly with current rates at $1.

If you were sending parcels or small packets (something flat like books/albums), you could lick a half-sheet onto a side of the box if you really wanted to use them...

And you could hold a massive stock of gutter pairs, and spend a few years finding 500 collectors of those.

Even paying half face would be generous...

As a complete article, with the cover and binding, it's a neat relic.

The problem being the seller is asking $10 per sheet, and has relisted this "Unlikely item will ever appear again", except that it will be offered again next week when the reduced (now $4,900, reduced from $5,800) item does not sell, and is reduced further.

I agree. It's a very cool item. But not cool enough for me to buy it of course. :D

The dude selling it should offer it to Australia Post for their archives. They probably have some full sheets, but not an original slab of 500. Anything over face would be a bonus.

brabrandbrads has, to my delight, made a comeback and is offering a whole new boatload of fail. Just one for now, priced at US $999.00 which might sell for AU$1 on a GOOD day, if they were not damaged like these two, and of course the usual inept description. Edward? Don't think so. And for that price, you would think that the seller would make some effort in presentation.

The undisputed clown prince of eBay, Ben Hayworth (now listing as benjamihaywort_0) is back from a seven years absence after being banned by eBay, and it is worth the wait. Possibly less brain power than ever, if that is even possible. He was also a member here at that time - for less than 24 hours before his deserved life ban.

Here is a sample of Ben in his own words, and for 1 cent + $500,000 postage you get this self centred ignorant jerk::

It's fun to laugh at the over-the-top auctions but there are thousands of "what on earth are they thinking?" low price attempts too. Here's one from aladdininthehat123 who somehow has 500+ positive feedback, though seemingly not much from stamp selling. Unfortunately it closed tonight with no bids.

Only £1.39 plus £3.90 economy (his word) postage...

He goes on (and on, and...) , in various font sizes and colours:
!!! ... Lovely Little Vintage Stamp ... !!!

... United States Of America ...
... Usa ...
... Used ...
... 25 Cents ...
... Birds ...
... Pheasant ...
... Phasianus Colchicus ...

... acceptable used vintage condition as seen...
... not new not mint ...
... creased throughout with some damaged perfs also...
... item condition highly magnified by camera sensitivity ...
... not too bad at all ...
... just so long as you dont mind ...
... should look fine once in your album pages ...
... condition as seen shown ...

and then a hundred more lines on what discounts you'll get if you buy various amounts of multiples from his other auctions - which needless to say are equally worthless.

No question that poor pheasant stamp description is worth a few laughs.

However, in the United States antique and resale trades, the descriptor “Vintage” means anything that can be identified to a past era or decade.... that stamp screams 1980s... getting hot now actually thanks to things like “Ready Player One” and “Stranger Things”

In actual practice and common misuse... vintage means anything no longer available new.

Antique of course means 100 or more years old in the strictest sense, bu

...says tome-6291 who wants USD$600 (BIN $USD1,300) for what is clearly a used mounted common 10c 1963 QEII definitive. I would forgive the 1863* reference as a typo (I have a queer feeling that Her Highness is not that quite that old), but with somebody as dumb as a bag of bricks like tome-6291 , who can really tell?

*Not so sure about the 1841 reference. Seems to be something tome-6291 pulled out of the air, or pulled out from a body part which smells a touch more.

Oh my. The capacity of some people to combine a google search with their own brain dead capacity is fascinating, as shown here by polic66. He can find google, but from the listing, probably not his own feet.

Price: US$1,000

Description:
Great Britain stamp 1841 One Penny “Red”, Cancelled - Fair - RARE/SCARCE Stamp!

Great Britain stamp 1841 One Penny “Red”, Cancelled - Fair - RARE/SCARCE Stamp!. Shipped with USPS First Class Package.

Listed as the top 25 rarest stamps in the world! One of these sold at an auction for 555,000 pounds....this stamp has been stored in a small plastic container for over 5 generations of family. Plate 77 stamping in 1841. I will except reasonable offers although I am not giving it away. Local stamp dealer is interested although I would like a small time collector to have it. Email with any questions

NOTE: this stamp is heavy cancelled although has clear perfs on 2-1/2 sides. This was originally cut off an envelope and stored. Also, the “One Cent” at the bottom of the stamp is lower than normal although is visible in the perfs.
So much wrong here...

And now for a perforated imperforated pair. Wrongly described as S.G. 206a by scwes_11 as "Stamps are still conjoined together..are in great condition", and priced at US$1,000 or BIN US$2,500 this piece belongs in the recycle bin. Great condition??? Imperf?

Complete dill film-shelf-dvd has graced these pages before, and being from GB, really should become a member of the Monster Raving Loony Party. His latest insanity is this for
GBP 650,000.00.,and is still a "Quick sale due to moving." which has been happening for months.

I don't know what he thinks he is moving but I suspect it is from a lower part of his body, starts with an s and ends with a t, and probably happens daily.

I probably should not even post this sellers stuff any more. He gets pretty boring and he is just a brain dead idiot if he thinks he can sell any of his stamps. Probably an eBay troll.

Most of the time it's the little things that annoy me, in this case two of them. This is described as:
I sorted through my aunts garage and found all these stamps . 70 year old collection . As is . Some books are filled some empty . Amazing amount of old stamps . Serious stamp
Collector only please . I’ve been informed they are worth a small fortune . Price is for the lot .
1. It is not 70 years old, not even close. There are even visible $1 Australian 2015 definitives in this accumulation.

2. carolcazza.57 would not have been told by anybody who knows anything that this landfill is worth a "small fortune" as it is patently false. It's not even an "amazing" amount of "old" stamps.

Oh, and three - I might pay $20 as a flyer in the hope that there might be one decent stamp there. Selling price of AU $1,800.00 is absurd.

I can almost guarantee that it was just a pile 'o stuff cobbled together in the late 70's early 80's when just about everybody was buying and gathering el cheapo junk, which is still, 50 years later, el cheapo junk.

And today's special is the 2/6d One Pound Jimmy famous inverted watermark in a pair, but this one is special -

The watermark is completely missing, so it is the unique inverted watermark missing watermark. And it can be yours for only AU$2,000 from serial dill collector1409 who offers wonderful closeups of his dumbness.

Can't you see this is the stupendously rare aniline white ink version with bleeds through the paper and makes the back turn completely white when you soak it?

"I'm too dumb to look at a catalogue", therefore this is worth $US25,000? Thus sayeth eBayer konglen who has a lot of marginally overpriced stuff, and certainly does not even seem to know what a catalogue is. This one really does take the cake though.

1926 South Africa 4d Hope imperforate se-tenant which leaps out at you when you open up a catalogue to the page that starts with "South Africa" and worth maybe $10.00 with a tail wind.

SOUTH AFRICA pair of 4p triangle pair error cant find anywhere WM201

beautiful used triangle 4p stamp
cant find in cataogue or google
error and rare?

https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/SOUTH-AFRICA-pair-of-4p-triangle ... SwDyldXcwr

Oh and I did a google photo search as well, and came up with dozens of scans of copies of this stamp. Error and rare? Only in the sellers mind and his inability to search for and find anything.
