The Forger is now doing more fake "OS" Perfins, offered under the ebay handle clonstamps.

Ebay item number: 223380611957

Both of these Tasmania OS perfins are fake.

The 4d was never perfinned OS. The 9d can exist as genuine, but not in this case.

The Greek Forger, using his alias strampsdownunder has a heap of FAKE OS PERFINS on KANGAROOS - mainly Large OS types, and some doubles:

https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/1913-10-Pink-Grey-First-wmk-Rroo ... 3917183927

On his Large OS perfin Fakes, you can see the a large gap on the holes in the "O" between 11.50pm and 12am:

Image
The "Credibility Gap" on Fake Large OS Kangaroos

Also a hagner of pre-decimals salted with screaming fake OS opts of Kingsford Smith, which is a very usual tactic employed by this scumbag.

Thank you for educating those of us who have no clue as to these forgeries. Some have been well identified as to why these are not worth the paper that they are printed upon, but in other cases, those of us who are largely ignorant of the finer points of Philately still have no idea. Can I please request that any NEW POSTS please indicate the area of attached images (as per MJ's Pet post) as to what is the reason that an item offered is not genuine. Fair enough, the likes of "Sydney Forger" might have a reputation here as such, but, to me, I would hardly know a genuine stamp from some of these (very) convincing forgeries.

In another thread all of his ebay aliases were listed. As a starting point, become familiar with those.

Anything offered by this guy raises a red flag.

Generally, any type of overprint or perfin will be forged. Basically where he can take a cheap genuine damaged stamp that is worthless and "add value" by fakery, he will do it.

He has masses of form on things like Australian Commonwealth with perfins, OS overprints, perfins on Australian Colonies, SA departmentals.

Sorry guys!

I'm a bit late (a month late).

Back on 20 May 2019 a "silly fake" Christchurch Exhibition set was featured. Whilst it sold for a good price on eBay it was a Madam Joseph forgery: the tell tale time slug of 2.24 PM gave it away as being hers and not the Sydney Forger's.

Both wrong I would suggest, he has forged a forged cancel. :? Sold a different lot before that he had purchased without the forged forged cancel.

See this thread: https://www.stampboards.com/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=82428
traralgon3844 wrote:EDIT 10/7/18: The ebay Sydney Stamp Forger is now operating as: biblica99 (changed to stampcentre on 18/10/18) and dawh-9130 and a few other identities.

This identity of the Sydney forger has been quiet lately, but rayahelou-0 is up to his old tricks.

rayahelou-0 currently has a set of the New Zealand 1906 Christchurch Exhibition stamps supposedly used on piece and cancelled at the exhibition. It is listed thus:

New Zealand 1906 Christchurch Exhibition set on piece, SUPERB

Item: 113059031946

https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/113059031946

The cancels are obviously forged. This is how rayahelou-0 came into possession of the stamps. They weren't on piece and they weren't cancelled.

Wow.

If this creep has a copy of the Madam Joseph forgeries "book" then heaven help us. The "book" contains 2 parts: a) a proper case bound book with illustrations of her work printed on high quality paper, and b) - wait for it - a section of transparent overlays with which to compare and contrast any of her illustrated forged postmarks on the appropriate stamp.

Not too difficult to scan the transparency and plonk it on a single or a set of (poor quality) stamps.

Whoooops! I should not be telling. If any mod thinks the above ought to be redacted - please do so.

David,

He bought an auction catalogue for South Australia Depertmentals and has been pumping out forgeries from the illustrations contained therein.

We won't be teaching him anything new.

Thanks Traralgon3844 for clearing that up. Great detective work.

I thought that the NZ piece looked too obviously fake, the cds was too watery and modern-looking and that it had been done by The Greek.

David Smitham then said I was wrong and I assumed he would be the one to know.

All the best

Good grief, their not idiots. Their showing you how to identify the forgeries.
The "idiot" is the person who blindly buys a valuable item without checking first.

If either of them could be bothered, something could be done - quite easily.

For a start they could monitor his sales and keep records as many here have done. Then provide that information to NSW Police, the State where he lives.

There are dozens of things he could be changed with > obtaining a financial advantage by deception for starters.

The NSW Police are of course not interested in some forgery that sells for $5 on ebay. $1 Million worth of forgeries is another matter.

Some people, including me, remember a time when ASDA was not dysfunctional, took strong action and gave a schit.

Back in the 1970s, rogue traders - not members of ASDA - set up anonymous P.O. boxes and placed advertisements in the stamp magazines. People wondered how they got hold of such "hot stock". It turned out that the stock was fictional. Within weeks and months of placing the advertisements these fraudsters hauled in hundreds of thousands of dollars - in the seventies. ASDA made reports to police and the fraudsters were identified, the premises raided and charged.

The Fair Trading Act contained a provision that made it illegal to trade anonymously from a P.O. Box. Magazines such as Stamp News starting enforcing that and insisted that ID be provided when placing ads.

NSW Police could gain access to all the information the Greek Forger has provided to ebay through warrants, his own deception notwithstanding. They are quite capable of tracing people through IP addresses.

We have all seen months/years of inaction from ASDA when members breach ethics. Did nothing have the Jude Koch perfin forgeries for years until Tony Shields intervened (kudos to Tony Shields for that). Did nothing whilst Barry Jarrett, Danny Jurd/Velvet and Mossgreen spent vendor money like there was no tomorrow.

Talk about fiddling whilst Rome burns.

As for APTA, sadly they too are dysfunctional and are permanently on holidays.

APTA even has a "Forgeries Commission". Presumably this is to protect the philatelic public against the propagation of forgeries. What the Forgeries Commission does is a mystery, other than attend meetings in exotic places.

"The standard you walk past is the standard you accept".

And if your so fired up about a 2 bit fraudster, why don't you do something, instead of sitting on top of that Huon pine tower blaming 'toothless' authorities.

You neglected the major role SB played in the unraveling of the Blue Owl fiasco and the vitriol some members received for being right.

^duh. The APF did zero about Jude Koch. APTA did zero about Jude Koch. It was Tony Shields alone after being alerted by Stampboards.

I think I just worked out the Sydney forger's reason for using '143' in his new fake i.d. If you assign each number to represent a letter from the alphabet in alphabetical order you get: 'adc'. If you jumble those around you get the word 'CAD' which means:

... a man who is aware of the codes of conduct which seperate a gentleman from a ruffian, but finds himself unable to quite live up to them. Cads are quite capable of disguising themselves as good chaps for some time, only revealing their true nature in circumstances of particular stress or temptation. (Urban dictionary)

Interesting!

The 3d with "OS" perfin  does not exist , except within the Greek Forger's vivid imagination!

These are a favourite of the Greek Forger. The mint stamps are easily obtainable. Then he can churn them out using his homemade punch. The perfin bunnies on ebay love them.

These fakes by la-lune-collectables appear on this website above.

Any ebay Bunny with, an IQ in double digits- (there must be SOME - surely!) only needs to google the user name of any ebayer they are THINKING of bidding with, and they see -

https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-d&q=la-lune-collectables

If they all did that, this spiv would be broke in a month.
