Share your Postal Savings Stamps!

Post by ernelopez »

Hi
I've got a little collection of postal savings of Argentina. There was two different kind of stamps. Those intended for postal savings notebooks, like this ones:
Image
There are more than 170 different stamps of this kind, from 1915 to 1994. I got only 68...

And there was a second type of stamps, intended for little savings, in brochures that were given to kids for free.
Image
This stamp, was given with cigarettes as a gift in the 20s:
Image
I know 38 different stamps of this kind.

I invite people to show all the stamps they got of this kind from other countries!

Ernesto

More stuff...

A cinderella from Uruguay promoting Postal Savings:
Image

As seen here https://www.stampboards.com/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=24463 these two Japanese stamps from the beginings of XX century have postal savings cancels.
Image

Since 1869, Belgian stamps could be used for postal savings purposes. The cancel is known as "Roulette" and is very easy to tell.
Image

This Spanish postal savings stamp, from 1918-1928, could be also used as postage stamp.
Image

Will someone post apart of me...? :(

Hi Ernesto,

Nice stamps. I do not actively collect these - to help with the topic, here is one from Australia.

From 1939 to 1945, these stamps were purchased and attached to a folded card.

Image

I searched and found some info about the card:

Inside are 32 spaces for the stamps with the words 'Stamp out the Fear of Tyranny Forever', with 1 letter in each space.
On the back of the card is the following:
War Savings Stamps can be bought at any Post Office.
When 32 War Savings Stamps have been affixed to this card, the card will be accepted in payment for a War Savings Certificate of £1 face value at any branch of the Commonwealth Bank, any other bank or State Savings Bank or Post Office where Money Order business is conducted.
Also on the back is the slogan: "Sixpence a day keeps invaders away"

Will add more if I find any.

Bruce.

These were in an envelope marked Japanese Occupation Indonesia Postal Savings, so hopefully that's what they are.

Image

Although the item on piece is postmarked on the back 3-5-46 and someone has handwritten "Parcel Arrival Notice", so maybe not.

Hi
Here are some postal savings stamps from Argentina. These were intended to put on cards up to one peso. The size of stamps were in proportion to their value, i.e., four 1/2c stamps have the same size that one of 2c.
In the first row, a series from 20s-30s. Second row are from 40s. The little ones are really tiny!

And this is what the cover of the savings book looked like.

Here's the first page.

The user of this book must have been a rich guy since he
used 1 Krone stamps rather than the more usual 20 Øre.

(I hope to sell this book this weekend to raise a little money.)

Hi
A new addition to my collection:

Image

These are savings from Chile. Not really postal savings stamps, since they were intended for savings in the "Caja de Crédito Hipotecario", but I think they are really nice to show. According to this article in the Philatelic Society of Chile site (https://www.sociedadfilatelica.cl/webarticulos/caja_nacional.html), these engraved stamps are dated in 1910, and only known in specimen.

Today this material arrived from Chile:

Image

It's a booklet to affix saving stamps up to 20 pesos by school children, from 1950 (although stamps are from 1949). There exist some other values, and some other years of this kind of stamps; this is the only one I have :D

Hi

I just received this little lot of postal savings stamps from Sweden. It seems to be at least three series: one on greenish paper, other on white paper and more litlle perfs, and a third in a wider shape.

Image

Is there a reference for this stamps? Or does anyone has some information about them?

Does someone has a reference for them? Maybe they are listed in Barefoot? By the way both have multiple CA crown watermark.

Hi Ernesto,

Savings stamps are not included in the Barefoot catalogues, only revenues. :(

I did'n know that... since I have not the Barefoot catalogue...
So, they aren't listed in postal catalogues, for they are not postal stamps; they aren't listed in Barefoot, for they are not intended to pay any tax (revenues)... Are they listed at all??

The blurb in the catalogue says that the Cinderella Stamp Club have issued a guide to GB Postal Savings Stamps but no mention of anything overseas.

I have read in a site (a shop), that the savings stamps of British Honduras are listed in Michel. Is someone able to confirm?
