The one I mailed you with the Priority Mail label is the only cover I did.
It has the 70c Cricket 1989 stamp and was postmarked 2 December 2015 Dandenong Vic 3175.
I can safely say that it will become, in time, one of the earliest documented use (EDU) envelopes sighted of that label, if the cover received the usual mail centre machine cancel or sorting codes.
The long lost cover emerged from the primeval ooze and debris that passes for a desk here today!
It seems from all the posts above, it is CERTAINLY the earliest postal used cover known to the many experts here. It may well be THE earliest cover existing ANYWHERE - I imagine it is. Noel had the foresight to order these stamps November 30, but only sent a single cover - the one below.
The ACSC recorded earliest known use ('EKU') for stamps that had no official issue date and I hope December 2, 2015 is shown for this one.
I asked my PO to backstamp it on arrival, and that cds is there from Dec 4.
It has the orange ink jet tracking bars on back, as further proof of postal service.
I wrote about it in this months
"Stamp News" column -

As we can see in posts above, many PO's do not even known if they can SELL them or use them,
even as of today - Dec 16!
This is the very first issue of a brand new stamp type. Used over a MONTH before it became officially usable!
And having a
cricket stamp and cachet, makes it even more interesting to many.
I appreciate Noel's very kind gesture in mailing it to me, and I really should not benefit financially from that generosity.
So I have decided to run it as a 7 day auction here, for all members to get involved in, if they wish.
The sum of the highest bid will be donated by the winner, to the
Salvation Army Christmas Appeal.
https://salvos.org.au/christmas/get-involved-this-christmas/g ... as-appeal/
"Christmas can be a wonderful time, but when a tragedy or crisis hits it can be terribly hard. Children, people struggling alone and families battling to keep food on the table are among the hardest hit.
This Christmas, we want to give hope to Aussies battling the tough times. Donations mean that, here at the Salvos, we can offer shelter to people with nowhere to sleep, gifts for kids who would otherwise get none, hampers for people struggling to afford basic meals, and support for those struck by disaster.
Your donations are enormously appreciated - because they really do give hope where it's needed most."
You then will get a legal Tax Deduction to Vinnies - for buying a rare cover!
I hope it will raise into 3 figures. The winner will post a receipt number detail on this thread, and job done, I'll mail the cover when I get back from Laos, Sri Lanka and India, and stampboard members once again help a great cause with their generosity. 8)
Hope we get some keen bids!
