Mystery South Australia £1 Grey Stamp? Any info please?

Post by tassiesaint »

A Mystery Stamp

I saw this stamp on eBay and am intrigued by its origins.

The description states "South Australia £1 Grey Commonwealth Reproduction, MUH."

I saw an almost identical stamp a few months back which had Tasmania instead of South Australia.

If it is a reproduction; were there original issued stamps?

Just another ebay Total Fantasy, the ink has not yet dried upon, designed to remove money from collector pockets, based loosely on a real stamp essay ACSC E11.

The price asked is clearly your guide.

Thank you Mr Sheriff. I would have thought this forum would be a "put down free" space where support and advice would be offered to encourage active participation in stamp collecting. Your response says more about you than me and my genuine inquiry about the history behind a stamp curiosity.

Tassiesaint, Glen referred you to the ACSC and the stamps essays number being E11
Very rare, likely none in private hands and none has the State name field printed in for the £1.
So someone has just made one up.

Perhaps tassiesaint might like to introduce himself as he was asked to do in his welcome email. Please go here to do so:

And would all the posters on this thread remember when they are attaching an image, when they go into attachments please click on the "place in line" button.

This will remove the word "attachment" from your attachments.
