Hello Desmond

I stopped off at Big Andrew's shop about a week ago & he didn't have any at all.

Perhaps you have cleaned him out already. :D

Hi BigSaint,

I think I must have cleared a lot of people out of them, I have contacted about 100 people, I still have a couple more in progress.
Just last week asked a seller on eBay in Australia, and he has a couple, and having a look for any more he has.
A shop has got a few for me, and they have just bought some big collections, they also think there is a few more in.
I'm still trying to get the 2 ones for you, as well, so I haven't forgot, just the seller is taking time.
Regards, and stay safe

Hi Cover2021,

Good to hear, shame it took a bit long, but at least you have them now.

Still no update on the tracking number though.

Hi,

That would be fantastic, it would almost complete my set of Sydney postmarks for this cover, I thought this could be a very difficult one to get.

How can I get it please, if you would like to email me details of swap etc, would be great.

I bought 11 Covers quiet cheap from a seller I found on eBay Australia, a few weeks ago, some new, and some duplicates, because of the condition of some I already have.
The attached was said to be Swan Hill, indeed there is a Swan Hill which I have got coming from somewhere else, but didn't realise there was this other Swan Hill one I got sent. I think this is a bonus, I can't see this Swan Hill Pioneer Settlement one being easy to get.

BigSaint,

When I opened the 11 I received, and saw it, I though I didn't recognise it, nice the way the cover, has the extra printing customization on the bottom. It's a nice condition cover to, I doubt there will be many of this around. I would think the quantities of these different towns, other than the couple of Australia main towns, like Sydney, Perth, Melbourne, are very low numbers. I wonder if its listed in the Pictormarks, but it is listed as a FDI PO, so can't be that rare.

I haven't forgot the further 2 I have found for you, I keep chasing them, apparently they have locked down for 2 weeks. So hopefully soon, he has my Swan Hill to, amongst another 20 I don't have.

I found another one for me on eBay Australia 1977 Aust SJ Toukley NSW just today, he has a few of it. I have asked him he has anything else also.

1977 Aust SJ The Chinese Exhibition VIC 3000 PH
1977 Aust SJ The Chinese Exhibition VIC 3000 PH
I ordered this amongst another 11 others from a dealer in Australia, received it along with lots of others a dealer was helping me with them.

Bit of a shame about this cover, even though its in nice condition, only the low value stamp, and the dates wrong, I was hoping it was going to be the FDI 2nd February 1977. The exhibition ran from well before to well after, and franked covers everyday. There has to be a better one out there, any help would be appreciated to get a better one of this one. At least I have a PH of it now.

Hi Desmond

I have never seen this one before nor have I heard of "Lengs Commoratives".

I wonder if they were done at the time or were a latter day creation.

Hi BigSaint,

The dealer who found this for me, he has got a couple of normal covers of a couple of different towns for me.

He got this a couple of weeks ago, he has said it is the only Numistic cover he has ever seen of this stamp issue, and coin together, but I have got the Canberra one.

I do think myself the coin was probably added later, I must now have 3 Nedlands Postmark covers, but this coin cover is in nice clean good condition.

Have to see if I can find out anything about "Lengs Commoratives".

Interesting 'Lengs Commemoratives' do exist, even now, you can see this cover advertised on there website, they are limited editions, not many produced, even now for new issues:-

You could make the PNC to this day - the coins are cheap and plentiful!

Very dubious items at more than a few dollars apiece. :!:

I recall ringing a high profile dealer years ago enquiring about a PNC he had advertised.

He said no worries if I haven't one in stock I can make you another one.

I think his were limited editions too. Limited to how many he could sell.

When I saw this I was especially interested because of the postmark of my suburb. Searching "Leng's collectables" finds a website and some online auctions including email but the closest he gives to his address is "Australia".

However, many of his covers have a WA connection especially to WA Universities, so I think he is a fellow sandgroper.

I wonder if he has many of the Nedlands postmark Silver Jubilee FDCs that he hasn't punched a hole in?

He has many coins and a few FDCs on his eBay page, but this one caught my eye. Is this legit??

Mea culpa. I shall have to look more diligently next time.

Eaton is a suburb of Bunbury which is 150km south of Perth. So he is indeed a Sandgroper.

Hi Greg,

Many thanks, I don't have the Nelson Bay PMK neither, I've not managed to pick up anything new for a while. They all look like nice condition covers, I have the RV Newcastle cover, but not very good condition. All three covers would be great.

Many thanks, Greg, I'll send you some money for them.

I was expecting about 10 SA covers from a dealer in Australia (Philatelics (Australia) Pty) , for nearly a year now. I have removed them from the list, been advised the shop assistant who is dealing with them is notorious for not sorting things out. Shame really, I have emailed the shop lots of times, gave them my delivery address, card details, but absolutely nothing done.
Regards, and stay safe

It's Steve Meharry, is the problem one, I just don't get replies, all started 2nd March 2021.
I sent an email to all 3 email address 30th July 2021, and Steven Waterman, was the only one who replied, it was him who explained about Steve M. He said he would get on his case, but again that was ages ago.
Totally gutted because the covers they have found for me are all SA ones, which I haven't got many postmarks for, they are based in SA:-
Blair Athol SA
Coorparoo QLD
Flinders Park SA
Norwood SA
Plympton SA
Port Adelaide SA
Renmark SA
Whyalla SA
As well as a few others he had, which I have managed to get, but I was going to get them as duplicates, condition is everything with these.

They also have 2 X 1978 Australia Racehorse covers, I've being trying to get for BigSaint:-
Flinders SA
Morningside QLD

I have found you only tend to get the PMK's in the place the dealer is in. I haven't found any other dealer in SA, with the same PMK's.

I know Covid is a virus, but it's not a computer virus.

I recived some covers from a dealer in Australia this week, being going on quiet a few months, but pleased:-
1970 Aus RV FDI Geelong VIC
1970 Aus RV FDI Geelong VIC
1970 Aust RV FDI Torquay VIC
1970 Aust RV FDI Torquay VIC
1977 Aust SJ Footscray VIC 3011
1977 Aust SJ Footscray VIC 3011
1977 Aust SJ Brisbane QLD 4000
1977 Aust SJ Brisbane QLD 4000
1977 Aust SJ Glenroy VIC 3046 PH
1977 Aust SJ Glenroy VIC 3046 PH
Apologies about picture rotation, I rotated all these right way up, and saved them, on my phone.

I already had Brisbane, but this is in better condition, and got the Glenroy, as a cheap placeholder, as this is on the wrong cover for me.
