I haven't found either information solution for sale yet! I doubt that it's worth all the bother for me, especially being quite clueless how to find it. Sorry everyone that this hasn't been that helpful.Global Administrator wrote: ↑12 Dec 2021 17:18

Re: Official perfins catalogues for Australia and Colony stamps?
Correction: Australian Official Perfins (2nd ed, 2007) by David Andersen is $25 (and $20 postage is the rate to NZ.) I've just received it and it's good value. It's published by the Perfin Club of New Zealand and Australia. To join is just $10 online at www.perfins.com.au. I have found them very helpful folk too for historical information with an informative Facebook group where David Andersen and others answer questions.
The OS official perfin section for the colonial issues - all post Federation - is 32 pages. A lot of perfins indeed. These were initially only for Commonwealth Government Departments and were used by them until 1914 or when they ran out as they were apparently not recalled when Kangaroo series OS punctured stamps were issued.
This fine reference, the product of much research, isn't a catalogue with prices as such but is set out a bit like one. There is no consensus on scarcity and pricing so none is offered. I did read that SG has been approached about the listing of the colonial issue OS perfins but whether there's been any developments is probably unknown.
I've just started collecting perfins and so far I've found many of the OS perfins can be bought online at around the CV for the equivalent non-punctured stamp. The scarcer perfins will likely be much pricier though and then there's the risk of forgery to be wary of if buying through eBay etc.
I'm working on a set of pages to expand the Seven Seas Stamps Australian Colonies album to include the OS perfins and other post Federation issues. The extra album content has only the watermark varieties as the original album is simplified. Also there are so many perf varieties, it seems anything they could get got punctured. AOP lists all of the perf varieties though and that information is included in my pages but not a space for every perf variety. If it's welcome here, I could post an image of the pages which will show which colonial stamps were OS punctured.

Re: Official perfins catalogues for Australia and Colony stamps?
The basic set of 24 additional pages for the post-Federation issues - general re-issues and OS official perfins is now ready. Also available is a 10 page set for the Commonwealth of Australia stamps OS punctured from 1913 to 1930. These have been designed for the Seven Seas Stamps albums but could work well for many other albums.

Re: Official perfins catalogues for Australia and Colony stamps?
Thanks John for posting your catalogue information on the OS official perfins. I have been trying to identify whether or not one of my OS perfins from NSW was genuine. I do not have very many OS perfins from Australia but now I have at least a better understanding of the various issues.
Hopefully I got this right, NSW 1892-99 ½d blue green, perf 12, wmk Crown over NSW, OS Perfin, issued in 1902 for the Commonwealth Departments

Thanks for the confirmation wilbaer. Seems the only ones I have been able to find on the internet are OS NSW punctured on State stamps.

I'm from Brazil and I'm interested in knowing more about the official perfins of Australia, I even have a few in my collection.
Could you share with me some listing (or album pages) of stamps from the Australian States that were perforated with the initials OS, because I did not find anything in the internet in a complete way, only the stamps of Commonwealth.
Thanks for your attention

John,
While you are scratching your head about inverted OS punctures, you might like to also consider sideways punctures.
Here's an image I posted years ago in a different thread:
