Tristan da Cunha is one of the smallest and least inhabited islands in the Atlantic Ocean. It is a British Overseas Territory, along with the likes of St. Helena and Ascension Island, and boasts a population of only 300 people, which is even less than Lord Howe Island! See here on the map below:
A tiny pin prick in the middle of nowhere, see. At just 12kms in diameter you can imagine that genuine postal history is not all that common. There are no regular flights, and most supplies or outgoing mail leave by ship – a journey of almost 3000 km to Cape Town! However, the Tristan da Cunha stamp issues have always been popular with collectors and they regularly release new issues every year.
