It is happening Glen. It is in-fact getting worse with each year. The river used to freeze entirely for months during winter. Now hardly it freezes for about weeks. On top of that there will be breaks and people have to climb gorges. In few years, it will not freeze at all. :( One of the most iconic treks will disappear and locals have to rely on longer roads to commute.

So, judging by the age of whom when one joins, I can (with certainty) qualify for "Youngest Stampboarder"!

I did vaguely recall Turtle mentioned early on in his posts, 18 months or so back, that he was 14 or under, so I too was curious that he has not aged!

If Turtle is 14 he's had a hard life.

I'd guess he was the same age as me, 29.

Granted I've probably been 29 for a year or two longer than Turtle has :D

Catweazle and Glen shown downing a pint of imported draft Guinness in Flinders Street, as it was St Patrick's Day, and we both ended up with a free Guinness cap as well. :D

Many thanks to Ben, Catweazle who kindly met us at our airport hotel, and drove us to the MCG today - full story here -

Have not caught up with him for many years. Scored an entry ticket, and a huge Virgin Airlines mega goodie bag for him as well. 8-)

A great game - we were just 3 of the 72,000 fans.

Me standing next to the memorial on Rabi Island, Fiji, which commemorates the relocation of Banabans from Banaba in 1945. Banaba is part of Kiribati but is better known as Ocean Island. Kiribati is the chain of island that were the Gilbert section of the Gilbert and Ellis Islands.

The Banabans were relocated or forecably moved to allow the Bristish Phosphate Commission to continue its phosphate mining operations.

plim8888 in Singapore, with Glen and Margo, and some cold Changi beers

We flew to Seattle Washington, early October via Singapore each way, and will drive east to Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming, and through Idaho, Montana and Oregon - a few 1000s kms of driving. Caught up for dinner with plim8888 in Singapore. Carried over a large SG Commonwealth catalogue and some stamp purchases, to save a lot on postage.

Even SEA-SIN is over 16 hours in the air, so a lot of time in planes. October is the ‘leaf turning’ month here and very pretty. Back home late October - apologies for any delays to keeping up with stuff on the boards, as internet access will only be in evenings for a short period, as long hours of driving all day.

I once found a stamp in my collection that was worth more than the glassine I stored it in.

Margo and I flew down to Adelaide this week and met up with member Alan Logue at right for a coffee outside his business in Hutt Street city, to check back a carton of stamp albums on Virgin. 8-)

Allright, Cheese land representing! I’m next door in MN. Partly in the Twin cities and mostly up on the Iron Range now (NW of Duluth).

Where is Plover?

Just browsing this thread to check that I am there (well, NIgelc, Gavin-h, Vinobub and I have a group photo at the London do in 2010 way back a few pages), and I can't believe how young so many collectors are (I mean under 40!).

Perceived wisdom seems to be that in China and the Indian sub-continent there are a lot of younger collectors, and that in the UK, USA, Europe, and probably Australia too) the majority are grey-haired men over 60.

Well they do exist, but the pictures tell a different story with a lot of younger people in all those areas as well.

Great to see, if only because there are people who might just buy the stamps of the other group as they stop collecting!
