These underprints appear on some issues of EDIFO (Societe Generale de L'Edition Phonographique) and their later incarnation BIEM, as well as a couple of Mechanlizenz issues. They also spun off other copyright agencies in other countries as below.
The names are AMMRE (Germany), Mechanlizenz (Switzerland), Mecolico (GB), N.C.B. (Nordisk Copyright Bureau) and EDIFO (France).

There are 5 rows with offset starts. There are other varieties such as N.B.C. instead of N.C.B. (I assume in error). I have a sheet with the top row with N.B.C. but the bottom row has N.C.B.

Other examples have Mecolico preceding Mechanlizenz in the list. And I have a couple of blocks where the text runs vertically!

Sometime the lines are inverted in relation to the stamps, and in other cases the text appears mirrored as if printed on the wrong side.

I haven't yet done a detailed examination of all my blocks to understand the full range of varieties. Something I intend to do for the 3rd Edition of the catalogue though.

Thanks for that Adam, it was bugging me that I couldn't work the rest of the line out !

By the way, surely its an overprint, not underprint ? Holding the block at an angle to the light the text appears quite shiny so I'm guessing applied over the top of the stamp.

TTFN,
Jon
