Alain J. Gerbault (1893-1941), a French aviator and tennis champion, made a solo circumnavigation of the world (1923-29) in his 39-foot racing/cruising gaff sloop, Firecrest. Here is an image of a stamp depicting Gerbault and his sailboat, designed and engraved by Albert Decaris, and issued by France on January 10, 1970, Scott No. 1263, Y&T No. 1621.

Greece issued a postage stamp on 26 October 2012 to commemmorate 100 Years since the Liberation of Thessaloniki. It show the Armoured Cruiser "G.Averof".

The vinta (locally known as lepa-lepa or sakayan) is a traditional boat made by Bajau and Moros living in the Sulu Archipelago, Zamboanga peninsula, and southern Mindanao. Here is an image of a stamp depicting a Moro vinta, engraved and printed in Japan, and issued for use in Philippines during the Japanese Occupation on July 14, 1943, Scott No. N19.

Paddle Steamer, more frequently associated with the Mississippi but in this case plying their trade up and down the Congo River, from Stanley Falls right down to Matadi on the coast.

Pinisi junk and Expo 86 emblem, printed by photogravure, and issued by Indonesia on May 2, 1966 to publicize the 1986 World Exposition in Vancouver, Canada, Scott No. 1284. I believe the bird-like emblem on the sail may be a stylized version of the Indonesian national coat of arms, the Garuda Pancasila (see photo below).

when I did my newbe post I promised to post the Sailing Ships of the World pages that I am creating in word, so here goes, hope this works

Here is an image of a stamp depicting the Waxholm Line's ferry and sightseeing boat SS Storskär and a view of Stockholm, designed after a photo by Swedish photographer Lennart af Petersens (1913-2004), engraved by Czesław Słania, and issued by Sweden on January 22, 1971, Scott No. 749, Facit No. 719, plus a recent photo of SS Storskär, built in Gothenburg in 1908.

Here is an image of an airmail stamp depicting views of the custom-built schooner Antarctica, which was used by French polar explorer Jean-Louis Étienne's team during "Mission Erebus" in 1995-96, and a map of Antarctica showing Dr. Étienne's route, designed and engraved by Claude Jumelet, and issued for use in French Southern and Antarctic Territories on January 2, 1995, Scott No. C133.
