Yes, the world's first transparent stamp was indeed very unusual - especially when you can find it used on a coloured envelope - the transparent stamp then looks like it is the same colour as the envelopebuterfly wrote:Finland 2008 World's 1st Transparent Plastic stamp
I have a used one in a black stockbook and it's almost invisible!tonga2 wrote: Yes, the world's first transparent stamp was indeed very unusual - especially when you can find it used on a coloured envelope - the transparent stamp then looks like it is the same colour as the envelope

Broken in many pieces...tonga2 wrote: The stamp size is 35 x 35 mm and the thickness is about 3 mm so I wonder how it would go on a real circulated letter through the post
Yes, and it could damage the machine.tonga2 wrote: Would the letter get caught up in the sorting machinery due to the stamp's thickness?
Agree ... And those Vanuatu fruit stamps look like something issued by Tonga.tonga2 wrote:Thanks for sharing Eli - nice covers.
Just received a nice cover from SB member Matmex franked with the leather stamp cancelled with a special postmark depicting the same lederhosen. Thank you very much, Marco, for this beautiful gift.tonga2 wrote:On 24 September 2015 Austria will issue one of the most unusual stamps so far.
World's first leather stamp
Printed on leather in the shape of lederhosen the stamp also has six Swarovski crystals affixed instead of the usual buttons.
Good idea, but not now. I am very busy with my collections and creating my albums mainly Laos stamps, Mythologies and Monkeys. I always liked nice covers and I use to keep those who posted to me like the covers I posted here. Usually, I keep one from each type and give the rest to other collectors.tonga2 wrote:Eli, you should take up collecting unusual stamps too!
