Might be interesting to have a bit of fun next time the board agrees a forger has posted multiple scam items.

Open a fresh eBay account and then put $50,000 snipe bids on every lot. 'Win' every lot, sit back and wait for the forger to try and justify to eBay why he should get paid.

Frankly, I doubt that would happen. He wouldn't want to engage and if he did we have a community of experts here that could easily evidence the fraud.

Result - one pi**ed off forger who got nothing for his efforts but wasted time.

Sound like a plan or am I missing something?
Ebay policy would target you, the buyer, for not paying it rather than him for not sending it because in their minds, at least, the buyer has to pay before any scam procedure can be detected. If you didn't pay you'd be on the hook for not paying and have your account removed. At least that's from my view.

Knock on wood, I have been lucky in terms of stamps but I've been scamed once on some Warhammer but paypal refunded me so it was solved. I'm extra careful now.

The counter argument to eBay though would be that I was keeping the eBay community safe from conmen and fraudsters.

And not even charging eBay for the service...!

Not sure how much effort it takes to set up a totally fake ebay account, but have to admit on first thought, it would be a fitting result for these scammers.

A couple of tells in his sold items.

It is the same person.

I seem to recall seeing that block of 4 Kookaburra Mini Sheets and the Kangaroo Monogram block recently.

Bunnies are already throwing some serious money at the sovereigns.

Well spotted - The Bunnies have been in Energized Bunny mode this past week buying £1 PUC and £1 KEVII and all kinds of tempting things this creep has lifted off real auction catalogues - and that they will NEVER see

I accept the IQ of many ebay bidders is in single digits, but SURELY these dopes can SEE from a metre away, this has screen dots all over it, and is simply a cut out from a printed paper auction cataligue?
Image

The answer is - of course they can't as it got 15 bids.

https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/GB-1840-Penny-Black-Letters-MF-Fi ... 7675.l2557

His last outing cost ebay $100,000 or so - and many Bunnies lost all they paid.

Perhaps more than a few of these ebay members will be moaning to ebay/paypal that their stamps/coins/banknotes didn't arrive.

I can't identify any as being board members, but if anyone knows them you should contact them outside ebay methods and give them a heads up.

I must admit I was almost sucked in and was considering bidding on the 2d Roo Monogram block of 24, the price was very low (too good to be true), but several things did not seem right with the auction. It ended up "selling" for A$1084.

I asked a question of the seller for a scan of the back, and got no reply. The image of the front of the block did not look right, and did not look like a recent scan. I have not been able to find where the image of the block came from. The bidder identities were Private, I had not seen the seller username before, and they were new with low feedback.

The negatives have started.

The penny dropped pretty quickly for some of the bunnies.

Ebay again do not ever get it, and bother to match the same IP addresses as when he did it last time.

You can get a feedback score of 200 or so in an hour or two, buying small things for the office or kitchen from China, Post It notes, paper clips, single pens and markers, erasers, low price stamps etc. As a buyer you can ONLY have 100% Feedback.

Stock up the office supplies for $100 or so, and you are ready to Bunny Hunt with selling £1 Kangaroo or $2.60 Zeppelin photos etc lifted from an auction catalogue, starting at 99c.

Clueless Bunnies go into Bargain Buying frenzy as always, see the 200 feedbacks and assume it is all legit. And lose their shirts as always.

Greed will always win over caution.

Yeah he joined in August, built up his feedback, then started selling low value stuff in September.
I'm calling that a long game.
I think eBay limit the value and the amount of items someone can list items for initially.
We are looking a quite a well organised criminal here.
I'd being willing to bet he's running scams in other genres on eBay too.
Often they get genuine people to use their actual bank accounts and transfer the money to them and promise them 20% that's how they get around the rules. The find the bunnies like that through make $200 a day from home emails which unbelievably still suck people in!
Scumbag.

Nothing left to sell, no returns accepted and private feedback. And they bid the roos over $1,000.

stampogre - that penny black was cut out of a catalogue and was showing quite clearly the multicolour offset printing.

That seller aubria_us75no is being a bit sneaky with the description of this lot:

https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Falkland-Island-1933-5-Yellow-Penguin-MLH-/121823911761

It is actually a King Penguin; not a 'Yellow Penguin' :D

Image

OK, the seller's scanner - or scissors - may have been having a rough day, but I still don't see anywhere in the description of the lot that is specifically described as a stamp

Hey, let's throw $217.55 AUD at it, though. Well you got what you paid for

Maybe the market for secondhand catalogue illustrations is on the up and up

He'd have no chance of providing himself with some sort of legal loophole there.
It's in the category Stamps: British Territories and described as MLH.

That is just a category, and often items are listed in 'wrong' categories; there's no guarantee that looking in a selected category will find you just those items.

It is still (an image of) a British Territories stamp.

Also, 'MLH' can mean many other things...a quick acronym google:

'My Loving Husband,' for instance

I'm not trying to defend this 'seller' - far from it, but surely some due diligence should have been done by anyone bidding on this, and surely some responsibility lies with bidders in these sorts of cases?

You shouldn't be able to cry off to ebay/paypal with buyer's remorse when all the facts you needed to make your buying choice were there for all to see....

I saw a book once that was titled "how to make money by publishing books." Nice, thick lots of pages of waffle.

What did the book tell you to do? Publish a book about how to make money from publishing a book and sell it.

I've sent him a message saying "Did you get my payment?"
I didn't buy anything from him but will see if his greed gets the better of him and he replies or if he's gone to ground.

Next time he pops up I'll bid the crap out of his items a dollar at a time so his auctions look even more dodgy.
Might need a tag team partner on this.

I recently sold a couple of USA 2015 imperf pairs, being the "Elvis Presley" and "Battle of New Orleans" issues, to a new collector who only had 13 Feedbacks, she posted great positive feedback but then 2 weeks later wanted me to send the real stamps, not a "Photo" of the stamps as she thought I did.

I replied that for less than a few bucks, I don't take photos of stamps, but she asked me to re send, I said to her that should start to peel the backing of the stamps to prove they were stamps, she did this and wanted to know how I managed to put an adhesive backing sheet on a Photo, still not convinced, I said I would re-send as long as she would guarantee that she would not complain about them because they would be exactly the same "Stamps" as the one I sent the first time! She never got back to me....

The point to this......... Fools are everywhere, we just don't know it! they can be sellers and buyers, but we get what we pay for!

On the Feedback Profile for aubria_us75no, there is a link called "Learn more about private Feedback." Under that link it says "Important: If you have a private Feedback Profile, you will not be able to sell items on eBay."

Am I missing something? He is selling on eBay, yet his feedback is private.

As soon as he ran the scam and realised the game was up, due to this thread he set his feedback to private. Thereby hiding the comments from buyers who realise early that they have been conned. This will give him time to empty his paypal and bank accounts, both of which will have been set up in fraudulent names.

What should happen with regards to feedback is: If you have sold anything you should be unable to set your feedback to private for at least 30 days, and if you get negs during that time it stays open.

EDIT

Now 5 Negs. The penny is starting to drop with aubria_us75no customers or should I say victims.

This plus several other measures.

Like doing some decent due diligence on their sellers!

It should set bells ringing at eBayLand with their billions of dollars worth of computers when someone buys a bunch of paper clips and pencils clearly building up their feedback then starts selling high value items in a known scam prone category.

Problem with things like this is in a lot of cases the buyers would be put of buying (insert whatever scam category) forever.

It's equally bad for honest eBay sellers too.

Another of his alter egos: stars24680 was selling non existent Australia Post satchels etc.

He stood to make several thousand dollars from that little scam.

The neutrals and negs have started to come in, but again feedback is set to private.

Before he changed it the neutral was along the lines of "selling stuff he didn't have, why list."

Of course -- ebay are too stupid to notice they are being scammed for $100,000+ despite being told about it by dozens of folks more savvy than their alleged 'tech divisions' in Bangladesh and Calcutta etc.

Took a month for them to wipe the last version of this spiv, by which time he had 50 negs in a row or something wacko.

Negs/neutrals have doubled since the last post, yet aubria_us75no is still not NARU.

What I can't believe is the 2 neutral feed backs. People too scared to leave a negative even after they've been ripped off.

It is ebay ... they are the ever trusting Bunnies, hoping the totally impossible looking 'bargain' will "all work out".

Another neutral to aubria_us75no, plus a couple more negs.

Seems to have spoiled Christmas for a few people....

Ebay may be on to him, take a look at his completed listings and there are heaps of high value lots with cancelled bids.

Including the high value era China.

Here is one of the more interesting ones.
if the 4d violet was never issued in Tassie then from where did a perf T come?

Is Artau-0qii7 also the sydney forger?

I don't imagine he copied this picture from a catalogue!

He has already sold that once.

I mentioned that stamp and seller on another thread on 29 Feb.

Yes it is the Sydney Forger!

Thre has certainly been some odd going ons with his listings.

A lot of GB sales for penny blacks etc were cancelled, yet these three Buy It Now sales appeared.

Has he been ropeing in suckers for bulk bargain buys? These 3 Buy It Now items have the same description and image of the same two stamps in the 3 lots.

He also made a second chance offer on the 4d KGV perf T. Fortunately the 'lucky' underbidder didn't take up the offer.

Looking at the bidder ID's there appears to be a bit of shill bidding going on as well. The above offer migh idicate that that is correct.

I've been reporting artau-0qii7's auctions steadily, following the other thread; https://www.stampboards.com/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=68653
A more concerted effort and eBay might finally do something about the user. (as if...)
