Thank you for the nominations and thank you for the vote and win.
I had very little feedback on the thread and thought it had only appealed to very few of the members. In the last few days a few more comments had appeared and the collector in Germany that supplied some of the images emailed me. His comments are below.
"Its very interesting that you, as an Australian, write an article about “Stadtgüterverkehr”- Bravo!!!
Thank you for the work in German private post!"
I guess that is the thing about stamps. We can (and do) have active interests in other countries stamps and study them without leaving home. For me the difficulty is my lack of skills in reading German. Almost all the articles I have and reference books are in German and it is a slow and laborious task to extract the information. That of course is one of the other nominated topics which I thought was very interesting to. (Stamps motivate us to engage with languages: http://www.stampboards.com/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=90529
I was trying to answer questions I had and provide some information (in English) so that others on the board could share in what I had gained. Over the years many here have enlightened me and I always like to try to give back.
I would also like to thank Kevin for his generous prize.
Thank you again, Darren
Always interested in trading German material especially post war period.
