Re: eBay and Other On-Line Dreamers - A Photo Lot Compendium
A Delcampe dreamer this time, seller ID is rayensnoun
The description is fair enough - "Great Britain Queen Elizabeth II 2P 3P 9P", but the asking price? €4,900.00 for three stamps whose true worth is as near to zero as makes no difference.
https://www.delcampe.net/en_GB/collectables/stamps/great-bri ... 25489.html
Most of the seller's other items are almost as dreamworth. No wonder his/her feedback rating is "0 % positive feedbacks out of 0 sale (0 members). "

Re: eBay and Other On-Line Dreamers - A Photo Lot Compendium
Just a wee bit ambitious I think from gebhmic-0 (0 ). One page of common gunk, with the page having been lovingly ripped out of a cheap stock book and available for EUR10,000, or BIN350,000 if you can't wait. If you are willing to part with EUR350,000, you also won't mind the EUR100 extra for postage.
The description shows the full depth of his breathtaking store of knowledge: "Rare stamps". He must have researched for a full nano second to come up with such a erudite phrase.
Anyway, without further ado:

I must get back to my Optometrist ASAP.
This stamp (well it was a stamp once) is described as "Red Benjamin Franklin 2c US Stamp with slogan US SAVINGS BONDS. Used Condition.."
As Maxwell Smart would say "missed by that much"
Anyway, it's only opening for AU$5,000 more than it is worth, and zero feedback seller suzro_9907 (0 ) is not going to improve his bank account with this one.

This lot has actually attracted 3 bids. The 'rarity' of some of the non-existent overprints (Samoan GRI on New Guinea) is astounding. I did message this ebay seller before he re-listed to tell him they were garbage but to no effect......

Re: eBay and Other On-Line Dreamers - A Photo Lot Compendium
Now this is a truly novel approach:
dibe_551 is asking EUR 650.00 for this. A normal person would call it "a mint stamp" (and it appears somewhat discoloured on the Bike as well. Note IT IS NOT MISSING YELLOW).
https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Timbre-CTO-non-oblitere-rare-198 ... SwCTZezkol
ETA: And now that I look at it close up, it clearly does have a cancellation in the NE corner.
Norm
Google translate - Uncancelled rare CTO stamp 1984. It is very rare to find an uncancelled CTO stamp. This stamp is not fake, it is authentic. Great dealTimbre CTO non oblitéré rare 1984. Il est très rare de trouver un timbre CTO non oblitéré. Ce timbre n’est pas faux ,il est authentique. Bon achat

Yes, it has a faint CTO-style postmark. The description is like when people say a stamp is "Used, never hinged."

"1 Cent Green Franklin Stamp Extremely Rare 1847"
$AU10,000.00...
So says a brand new Western Australian eBayer micsm-1971 (0 ) who must have left both of his brain cells at work and is at home during the lock down. After all, being 75 years wrong on the issue date, and $10,000 wrong on the asking price takes a real special person and somebody with more brains than a wilted flower.

Mainly collecting GB, working back from QEII. Often side-tracked into Japan, GB-era Hong Kong definitives, Ceylon and Australia pre-decimal.

Re: eBay and Other On-Line Dreamers - A Photo Lot Compendium
I like this lot.
A single page showing nothing in particular and lots of further close ups of said same for EUR 2,950.00 from melanii_89(0):
Must be more to it than that.
"Pre-canceled n ° 69. 30c Green Peace. I sell the batch all the stamp of this pages. Contact me before buying it. Cordially. Delivery service: Priority letter"
Ah! A rare pre-cancel. Let's look.
It's even rarer. A torn pre-cancel missing pre-cancel. Google search probably has a lot to answer for.

This, from ebayer hendeshirl, is apparently "Fine MLH" and in "Great condition".
Their other listings are similarly delusional.

Correct identification, but incorrect pricing, from seller kennymayken.
A mere £100 to you.

A mere £100 to you.

This stamp has a Crown and A watermark but has very rare watermark margin lines. These identify this stamp as a bottom left corner stamp on pre printed watermark sheet.
These watermark sheets were printed 480 per sheet but were cut in half to print amongst others the KGV issue therefore printing 240 stamps in two sections using two printing plates.
A few of these pre watermarked sheets were wrongly aligned when printing the stamps to cause this error when perforating.

We seem to have another case of someone seeing something highly priced & thinking they've got the same. This rarely works, especially when the item you're taking inspiration from is already a dreamer item. The Pom wrote: ↑02 Jul 2020 23:12Correct identification, but incorrect pricing, from seller kennymayken.

In this case, seller bexhappyhair seems to have taken their inspiration from the 1d Red I highlighted earlier on this page and has turned up the fail a couple of notches.

"It's got Hitler on it - it must be rare" has been replaced by "It's got Washington on it - it must be rare",and there are dozens of eBayers seeing this sort of junk and adding to the list. Here is one example which I chose because of the absolutely gorgeous condition of that part of the stamp that still exists:

Another classic
If they are unchecked how do you know they are rare?
If they are rare why sell at only 0.005p per stamp?
Why does 1000 times 0.005p come to £50?

Re: eBay and Other On-Line Dreamers - A Photo Lot Compendium
toycollectorsguild is another ignorant eBayer who, among other faults, can google, but cannot see and knows less about stamps than a blind earwig. Here is a prime example, for which he wants US $160.00. It is of course worth nothing.
The description is "nystamps Japan Stamp # C2 Mint OG $425"
This is his stamp:
Now, nystamps is a New York dealer, Japan Scott C2 (illustrated below) is an airmail stamp (hey, toycollectorsguild, your plane is missing! Did it fly off the stamp?), Mint Original Gum (not used like this dill's stamp). At least he got Japan right.
https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/nystamps-Japan-Stamp-C2-Mint-OG- ... SwdeNez0uL
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Example 2:
Description: "France 1885 stamp Reunion Levant Beautiful! Hard To Find Blue 15" for US $320.00, Here is a real one:
toycollectorsguild those things just above the bridge on your nose to the left and right might help you distinguish the difference between your 5 cent crud and the Reunion stamp. Note the name in red.
https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/France-1885-stamp-Reunion-Levant ... ctupt=true
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Here is his entire listing:
https://www.ebay.com.au/sch/Stamps/260/m.html?item=254669972 ... ild&_sac=1
Common Chinese material always found in the average kiddies collection he routinely describes as "rare" are descriptions copied from "sell one like this" and he tries to sell completely different stamps. Google is not his friend.
Collections listed as "high catalogue value", when they are nothing of the sort, and I doubt that he even knows what a Catalogue is or where to find one) and used stamps described as Mint, his ability to ooze stupidity out of every pore knows no bounds.
Dreamer of the year so far, almost a perfect storm of Dumb and Dumber, and he is going to be hard to beat. toycollectorsguild, come on down.

“Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.” - Attributed to Einstein.
Obviously this is something of which krisjenlexethan is unaware, as week after week he lists the same junk at the same price obviously waiting for somebody more stupid than he is to bite. A clue might be the prices shown on the approval book, ranging from 2 cents to a whopping 25 cents, because these are what the stamps are still worth.
In simple language, US$800.00 plus US $32.27 postage plus US $158.55 import charges is about US$990.82 more than they are actually worth. Just a sample of the crud on offer:

Obviously this is something of which krisjenlexethan is unaware, as week after week he lists the same junk at the same price obviously waiting for somebody more stupid than he is to bite. Re: eBay and Other On-Line Dreamers - A Photo Lot Compendium
I felt this bargain from Trade Me NZ fitted this topic rather nicely. Anyone got $2000 burning a hole in their pocket for "Stamps from Germany 2nd World War"? Apparently these are only some of the lot, but the only ones he has troubled to photograph, so they must be the best ones, right. By my count there is one that is WW2 Germany. He is offering free postage which is certainly generous.

The hits just keep on coming.
1717-sunset-boulevard who has graced this thread before seems to have moved into some sort of performance are mode with this "so silly it's not even wrong" offering.
The recipe was take a very common 5 krajczar Hungary stamp, and then make up something mind boggling about it which shows that reality and 1717-sunset-boulevard's brain are separated by the Pacific Ocean, give it a description which a five year old could see is wrong (in caps of course), and price it at US $650.00.
The result?
Yep, the "5" is not an overprint and the "0" is part of the date stamp.
https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/VERY-RARE-19TH-CENTURY-HUNGARY-S ... ctupt=true
His other stamps are also badly overpriced, but this is on its own planet.

Leaving aside that this really is a pretty common stamp and not worth anything remotely close to the AU$550 asking price even in good condition, seller allisotoole0 has a pretty stunning description where half the stamp is missing, two of the other corners are damaged beyond redemption, it is badly off centre, and what is left of it is also creased as a bonus:

The have, according to their feedback, sold 14 stamps in the last 12 months, despite having hundreds & hundreds of stamps listed at any one time - yet they carry on.
They currently have 2,120 stamp lots for sale. At 14 sales/year, that's over 150 years to shift their current listings.
When someone doesn't twig that they're wasting their time when it's that obvious, you start to wonder. It may well be someone with time on their hands, well aware of the situation, who is quite happy doing what they're doing. If so, good luck to you and I support you fully.

Re: eBay and Other On-Line Dreamers - A Photo Lot Compendium
Started my regular skim of eBay items, and by golly, I got the trifecta right off the bat with super seller smit_ctqqk (1 feedback for a purchase five years ago)
Bid at GBP 1,000.00 or BIN at GBP 1,500.00, and described as "The stamps have been used, but they are in good condition." These would take pride of place in anybody's Budgie cage. But the claim is true if you describe good condition as thinned, creased, toned, private perfin, missing corners or heavily postmarked (and sometimes all 6). And worth a dollar or so in good condition. These stamps were apparently handed down to him by a grandparent, who in reality must have secretly despised him.
https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/King-George-V-Silver-Jubilee-Sta ... SwMrxfOVSi
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Again, smit_ctqqk (1 feedback) has put GBP 1,000.00 or BIN at GBP 1,500.00 on common junk. OK, this one is a mistake by people who are totally blind to everything except $ signs. "Ireland 2 Coil Stamp 1935", except that they are not. They are the common sheet stamp and worth, let me think.....nothing.
https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Ireland-2-Coil-Stamp-1935/333689 ... SwqqdfOUtX
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
And finally, again for GBP 1,000.00 or BIN at GBP 1,500.00. I thought eBayers were over the idea that "German Inflation Stamp = ""good/rare/valuable"" Some are, but this one not so much. Market value about 5 cents.
https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/1923-Weimar-Republic-German-Reic ... ctupt=true
Sometimes I do wonder how many of our set of dreamers sit back and work out what they are going to do with all that money they think they are going to get.
But it never keeps me awake at nights.

Good to see that ebayer corni.care is obeying the rule that anything with the word vintage in the description must be utterly worthless rubbish.
The rest of their offerings are equally poor, including the wildly overpriced 1920's US Presidents that are now apparently obligatory in dreamer land.

Not sure I would call it a set either (which is also quite normal for a group of random stamps cobbled together by somebody who does not know anything about stamps.

Re: eBay and Other On-Line Dreamers - A Photo Lot Compendium
I know that there are some members here who never throw away a stamp. Even for those odd few, this monstrosity would have to be an exception:
https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/1932-3-Cent-Postage-Stamp-10th-O ... SwDHxfFMrq
And I don't think that this is the sort of stamp where "a good soak would do wonders". It would disintegrate what is left of the stamp. And yet...
US $200.00 from wenros-6453 who at the moment has 14 lots up worth a total of maybe $AU1.00, but in the personal reality he has replaced the real world with, are priced in total at about $US 7,000.
