Apparent lack of information relating to topic popularity.

Post by Wilding Mad »

Having just become active on this particular forum I noticed that unlike other forums you do not give any viewer data with reference to individual threads.

Why are there restrictions on this subject ?

Over 99% of a stamp is the paper it is printed on, if you study stamps you also need to study its papers!

Seems like you may need to go and re-read the rules.
"EVERY new thread requires an image in the first post".

The stats you are after are "hiding in plain sight", on the index page ....

stats.jpg
Individual Thread "Post Replies and Views" data, (including "most recent" post)

Thank you for your reply to my query ViccyVFU, you say this information is hiding in plain sight on an index page.

Originally I looked through the FAQ section but could find no mention of obtaining stats.

On returning to the Board index page, I still cannot see an index page that gives the stats, where is it hiding ?

I like to use user-friendly guidelines for information. WM

When you hit "Board Index", you get the "broad categories" page
This shows you number of threads (topics) and number of posts in each broad category
(Hello, Discuss, Ask, Sell, Swap, Refence etc ....)

When you click on any broad category, it drills you down to the topics (threads)
This shows you the screen I illustrated.

A lot of housekeeping goes on behind the scenes, to clear down old sales, purge all "spam" and "fishing trips (malware links)", merge similar threads etc ..... (and tidy up "train wrecks" :D ), so all figures given are "indicative of the current data it holds in the database" and not "every comment that's ever been made".

It isn't "hiding" anywhere.

Most members use the "View New Posts" or View your Posts" links which are located in the upper right section of EVERY page here.

OMG.

We are probably the most open and transparent free board on the web of our size. 8+ million posts, all readily visible to all. (Except you, it appears.)

This is coming from someone new, who today cheerfully agrees he cannot cut and paste simple text.

Anything else we are doing horribly wrong here after 15 years? Your input will be valuable I am sure.

I have tried the "View New Posts" and "View your Posts" links but what you have displayed does not come up, no stats are shown.

Another thing is, in my opinion you have two indexes I have circled which seem to deal with the same theme.

Agree 100%.

Your skim reading totally missed the Forum your non-thread should have been started in - I'll move it there now. It belongs neither of the above, as it does not relate to stamps, but newbie error.

OMG .. you get wackier and wackier in your rants.

WHAT do you imagine a BOARD INDEX page is for?

Do you perhaps think it offers timber thickness ratings or something?

Are you using a mobile device, in vertical orientation? In that case, I see only a simplified representation without these stats, too.
Turn around the mobile, in landscape mode, and I see what is shown here.

Someone who clearly reads nothing.

Question asked, and answered many times, so thread locked to save wasting more member time.
