Post by Bill H UK »

Greetings again!

Another assortment of GB odds and ends to give away.
This time there are THREE prizes to choose from:

Prize 'A':

Mostly KG6. A selection of mint sets and some definitives, plus a bag of used GB small low values from all reigns. Also includes a nice mint KG5 1934 One Shilling.
kg6.jpg
Prize 'B':

A small mint collection of sets from the Channel Islands and Isle of Man. Plus an IoM minisheet and some mint GB commems (not pictured - a surprise!)
guernsey3.jpg
Prize 'C':

Machins!!
A bag of a few hundred used QE2 Machins, hand-picked to include as many different colours, values and variations as possible. Very little duplication, with a range of high value Machins and castles. Love 'em or hate 'em??
mach2.jpg
HOW TO ENTER:

Below is a another picture of Prize 'C', the bag of Machins.
You need to guess the number of stamps in the pile - nearest guess wins. Simple as that.

Make your guess, then select which prize you prefer.
Nearest guess wins their first choice, second nearest gets their first choice, unless it's already gone and third closest gets what's left.

IF YOU'RE REALLY NOT INTERESTED IN ONE OF THE PRIZES, PLEASE LEAVE IT OUT OF YOUR ENTRY, and leave it for someone who might be.

Sample entry:
1. Prize B
2. Prize A
3. Prize C
Guess = 199

RULES:
You can enter ONCE for yourself and ONCE for a nominated Stampboards friend.

Entries open to all with over 20 posts AND member before 1st June 2022.
Entries close at 20:00 UK Time on Saturday 18th June.

So the question for all entries:-

How many stamps in the pile below?
(CLUE - The number you need is between 200 and 400)
How Many Stamps?
How Many Stamps?

Feel free to have a go if you wish! If you really want to count yourself out, why not have a go at nominating your countryman Girish, who sounds like he would really like the Machins!

Thanks to all for your interest and entries.
The correct number was **290**, so here's how it finished:

201 Abhisri for Girish
210 Philexx for Girish
252 Vijaysingh
283 JKA
287 Ericscoolstuff
290 ***Correct Answer***
299 Ubobo R,O. For Sargonnas
304 MrSamoa
310 Vijaysingh for Sargonnas
312 EltonGoaIndia
321 Sagi2917
333 Maggie
337 PdotK forGirish
345 Sargonnas for Maggie
357 Mr Samoa for Tacomabob
364 Revred for Vijay
370 Lima34
376 Tacomabob
379 Sargonnas
380 Lima34 for Clapas
389 Clapas for Lima34
392 Girish Vaidya

Most of you went too high on this one, but closest was Ericscoolstuff with 287, so Eric (?) will receive his first choice of Prize A - the KG6 stamps.
Second closest was JKA whose preference was for Prize B (Channel Is. etc), so they also get their first choice.
Third closest was Ubobo R.O. for Sargonnas with 299, so Sargonnas will get the Machins, whether he likes it or not!

I will be writing to the winners to ask for addresses shortly, please check your email.

Thanks once again to all who took part. I hope the winners find something of interest in their prizes, and commiserations to the rest!

GB fans, stay tuned for Part 6 coming soon!

You are very welcome Danny, although I think - sooner you than me! They did come from a 'collection' of sorts, and although they were well scrambled by the time they reached me they did appear to be a wide variety of variants - not just your average kiloware. So have fun - if you call it that! (I guess we do, don't we? )

I think it is an unofficial 'Local', not issued by the IoM PO, but for carrying mail on the Island's tram service, which is a bit of a tourist attraction. (Note no Queen's Head) Tourist cinderellas, made to sell as souvenirs. I doubt they meet any legitimate mail need - someone has seen a gap in the market!

Likewise, there exist bogus 'locals' for the Calf of Man, a tiny uninhabited offshore island.
Collecting mint British Empire / Colonial up to the 1960s, Bridlington & East Yorkshire postal history, and wacky postcards.
