Idiots like this seller are a dime a dozen. In Europe, basically every US stamp showing a head on it is at least "Rare" and commands 4-5 digit prices. It is completely futile to tell these people what they have (or in this case, why the black cancel ink is also badly faded).

Some of the greatest eBay dreamers on these are based in the USA.

Here’s one red 2cent Washington for just US $4,950.00, with free shipping! :D

Agreed, idiot listings like this are common - but to find one who has APEX certification which he has scribbled amendments to on the certificate, disagreeing with their findings is a bit of a collectors item.

Someone should do that and find out which countries have the highest percentage of dreamers.

But its likely the results will mainly reflect the results and nationality of those searching for stamps and these dreamers pop up. Such as Australian dreamers from Australians searching, American dreamers from the Americans, Uzbekistani dreamers from the Uzbekistanians etc.

Rare is an overused term and it seems any old worn piece of paper a few years old becomes "rare".
It is the same in the coin world too, lots of dreamers selling 1988 and 1989 Australian $2 coins saying they are rare due to HH being on them and on the man's chest, (It was removed for 1990 onwards when Indigenous Australians complained it was racist and insensitive as the man on the coin was deceased, but some 150 million $2 coins were minted in those years and many still sit in tills and pockets).

The British have a real bugbear with clowns putting up 1971 1p and 2p coins, who believe they are rare as they are over 50 years old and first year coins. In reality they don't realise most first year issues of major coin types are always very large as they need to bed the coin in with the public!

And of course any coin from circulation with a edge knock, some vandalised damage or been dipped in bronze, silver whatever is a mega rare error. Factor in all the spelling mistakes too "Lok, VERRY REAR - Extream bizarre ERRA, must be worth manny THOU$NDS" -

Overall I think the words Rare and Error should be banned from all online Auction, but especially Feebay as they are the most overused and misused adjectives in philatelic history.

The press have a lot to answer for here. I'd never heard of this HH thing, so I googled it:

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10341483/HH-stamped ... 20produced.

The article is headlined 'How a $2 coin is selling for THOUSANDS..."

But of course it isn't. Someone has put it on Ebay for $10,000. But we can all do that. Has it sold? No.

At the bottom of the article, an 'expert' says it's only worth $2. So no story here. But the headline will stick with people.

Impressive amounts of wrong in this listing.

Apparently, these stamps are valuable.

Here's another cracking deal. This seller who previously only sold tools has amazingly found an undiscovered "Post Office" Mauritius, and will let us have it for only £10,500. And when I messaged him, he has another three still to sell, all bought from a long-time and now dead collector.

Just in case you're tempted by that bargain price, don't forget to factor in the postage fee of £1 MILLION ... but to be fair, that does get you express delivery.

ebayer llab1 previously listed this at £3,000, then £1,000, so they're heading in the right direction. Eventually they will get to its real value, which is zero.

The description:

EXCELLENT 2 I/2d RARE RED GEORGE VI STAMP

It's not excellent, it's not rare, and its hinging status is, quite frankly, the least of its problems.

From seller adamtolin -- Scott #277, catalogues 25¢. And this one is damaged along the right side.
He has other German inflation stamps at very high prices. And of course he does not accept returns.

According to jessiestar2 This is an "Australia 1969 5c Prime Minister Reid, variety. Fine cds used example."

They don't clarify the variety. I'm assuming the imperf left side, which is entirely normal on these.

Oceans of fail here from ebayer stephanyreborn. This is apparently a 1d stamp. Also, we are informed that it is a rare variety of SG125.

Still, post is only 35 Euros.......

For the record, this is what SG 125 looks like.

They're out in force today.

Firstly jler9687 has these 2 incredibly common and worthless stamps at a mere £1500 Buy it Now. That said, they do seem to be the rare "Upside down" variety.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/175301148344
usd.jpg

Meanwhile, i-collect-123 has this damaged stamp at £1,000. Catalogue value is £14, real-world value in this condition a small fraction of that.

Needless to say, in both cases, their other items are equally comical.

This seems a trifle ambitious:
0001b.jpg
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Princess-Ann-And-Mark-WeddingNove ... 7675.l2557

Especially given that:
"Un used stamp No markings on from posting.
Hinged.
Slight crease between the 3 and Ann mouth"

Where do they get these ideas from?

Unusually, it's not completely ruined or worthless, which is rare for a zero feedback dreamer. It has a plate variety, and a CV of $30, so only slightly overpriced....

They also have two other stamps for sale. The Pom's crystal ball says they won't sell.

I can only make out some common stamps in the first picture, one is missing a corner.

The other 9 pictures aren't much better.

It also looks like the $40,000 plus collection is housed in a dodgy stockbook.
