Just revisiting the thread, but, the answer to your question is 'never'.

Sadly, between the time of your post and now, certain matters have intervened.

Hi folks,
I've had these for at least thirty five years, so these are being shown here on stampboards
for the first time anywhere, ever.

I seem to remember buying these and a good few more different proofs at
a stamp fair in England in an old village hall.

I have always admired the Annigoni portrait. Beautiful.

I hope you enjoy my contribution to the thread.

Thanks Mac,
haven't looked at those in a very long time.
(A very long time!)

I'm putting them front and center in my small G.B collection
as we speak.

B.t.w, I hope you completed your Annigoni collection.

P.S Mac, if you find yourself in Kiltimagh, Co. Mayo, Ireland,
we can meet up for a 'nifter' and I will give you one of those proofs
for your Annigoni collection.

That's a promise, it's here for you.

Best regards,
Mark

Spotted on Ebay:

I don't know if this one has been shown before on the thread. A seller in Wales wants £29.00 + 80p postage (for UK buyers) for it.

The lot number is 162832021469 and the lot title is " GB-HONG-KONG-1963-SOUVENIR-ENVELOPE-UNUSED-ANNIGONI-STAMPEX".

:D

I'll bear that in mind.

Yep, the collection is as complete as it's going to be. There is a Mauritius set that catalogues for little, but is not for sale anywhere. I have one stamp from the set only. It's from 1985, a reprint of part of the 1978 SG529 - 548, the difference being the date is printed at the base of the stamp.

Hi

This may be of interest to you.

PIETRO ANNIGONI (1910-1988): A lithograph portrait of Queen Elizabeth II circa 1954 accompanied by a letter from the artist to Blenheim Fine Arts Ltd 59/850, watermarks to board mount, 35cm x 25cm

I had thought about it for my royalty collection but decided it would take me into another collecting area which I am trying to resist at the moment.

Spotted this Maldives Annigoni stamp on OldDuffer1's End of Empire thread and wondered if it had been included.

Well spotted! That Maldives is a new discovery for the thread. Looks to be Scott 2569a. I will start looking for it.

On a different note I came across this Isle of Man cover which is nice but because it isn’t a stamp I expect to give it a pass.

But I will not be surprised if some entity issues an Annigoni stamp for the Platinum Jubilee.

I came across the following sheet while searching for my new acquisition above.

As the portrait is not actually on a stamp I’m giving it a pass but it is a philatelic item that fits the theme so is worth posting here for the benefit of the thread.

I’m sure that sheet isn’t pre-1970, or has the content of that thread expanded?

Does anybody have the Montserrat 1970 SG163a stamp that has St. Edward's Crown Block CA Multiple [SL] as a watermark? Differs from the 1965 one in terms of watermark.
