Any extra postmark value in these East India Queen Victoria stamps?

Post by Rog »

I don't know anything about India cancellations and have no reference material. I wondered if anyone would be kind enough to give these two stamps a look, please? Thank you.

If that is definitely B128 then it is rare, this thread will be of interest:

Opinions on India used Burma B/128 + 127 Duplex

The second postmark looked to be B1 which would have no postmark value.

Thanks for the reply Iain. I read the linked page, thanks.

I'm in the dark really, I suppose we have to ask; if it's not B128 what else could it be?

I know nothing about these, but it looks like a 6 to me.
Always on the lookout for Australian pre decimal First Day Covers.

Easier on the eyes and brain if it is properly rotated. ....and enhanced! 123?

Thanks, yes... I couldn't visualise any other letters but did not think that it could be a number.

Much easier, thank you. Any ideas where I could find out about a 6/123?

It’s not a ‘6’.

The Bengal Circle octagonal cancellation (Renouf Type 7) has a ‘B’ (for Bengal) at the top, except for a rare type with a ‘D’ which is thought to be an error.

This cancellation appears to be either B128 (Mergui) or more likely B123 (Motihari).

Yes looks like 123 to me.

Not round top 8 in 128, for sure!

Yes the B is not blocky enough.

Thank you. I'm betting neither of those are not that rare?
