Is there any Index for - 'Philately from Australia'?

Post by agondocz »

Hi,

I would like to know whether 'Philately from Australia' included an index for each year it was published.

If so, in which month was the index published?

Best wishes,
AndrewG

I don't believe so for recent years.

I've seen indexes for earlier years which are produced separately at the end of the year.

Is there something in particular you are looking for? If so, then I might be able to search the nearly completed electronic database.

Hello Philip,

I appreciate the offer.

I am looking for articles about "Too Late", "Late Fee", and "Shipside" markings.

Thank you.

Andrew,.

I was able to go to the RPSV library this past Saturday.

Had a quick glance through the indexes for Philately from Australia since 1950 (or so) looking for the word Markings and then checking for related articles. Nothing I'm afraid.

But I don't think this is necessarily the journal you should be looking at.

Perhaps you should flesh out what you are looking for and post to the following Stampboards thread asking for specific help.

Thank you Philip and BigSaint,

I am especially curious about the dates of the different cancels.

The article from The Philatelic database: Late Fee Cancels of Australia (1963) is the most comprehensive article that I have seen.

The Melbourne and Brisbane Post Office still used late fee cancels as of 1963 according to the article, which was by L.J. Tyler.

Mr L.J. Tyler, a prolific Australian postmark collector, appears to have worked for the New Zealand Trade Commissioner.

Hello BigSaint,

It would appear so.
