RogerE's 90K = 9K* Celebratory Stamp Giveaway

Post by RogerE »

On Friday 24 Nov 2023, I reached 9K* = 90K = 90,000 posts on Stampboards.

That has already been celebrated by some regular members of our great philatelic fellowship.
https://www.stampboards.com/viewtopic.php?p=11238887#p11238887

To mark that milestone, I would like to give one of our established regular posters a nice philatelic reward related to the 90,000 theme, and to celebrate several world leaders who have contributed to our aspirations for peaceful coexistence.

The prize: these two items

Db 90000 minisheet
São Tomé e Príncipe, 2010: Db 90,000 minisheet
Dalai Lama, Potala Palace, Lhasa, Tibet
Margin: Dalai Lama and Pope John Paul II
(Mi BL 791)
São Tomé e Príncipe, 2010: Db 90,000 minisheet

Margin: Dalai Lama and Pope John Paul II

$900 sheetlet on first day cover
Guyana, 1993: $900 sheetlet on first day cover
World Leaders for Peace
Mahatma Gandhi, Dalai Lama, Michael Manley
Pérez de Cuéllar, Dove of Peace, Mother Teresa
Martin Luther King Jr, Nelson Mandela, Raoul Wallenberg
(SG 3586-3594, Mi 4211-4219)
Guyana, 1993: $900 sheetlet on first day cover
World Leaders for Peace
Mahatma Gandhi, Dalai Lama, Michael Manley
Pérez de Cuéllar, Dove of Peace, Mother Teresa
Martin Luther King Jr, Nelson Mandela, Raoul Wallenberg
(SG 3586-3594, Mi 4211-4219)
I have these items on order, so they're "in the post" ;)
I expect to receive them in good time for the conclusion of the giveaway
___________________

The celebratory giveaway
.
The prize: As a modest celebration of my reaching 9K* = 90K posts, I will give some lucky Stampboarder the São Tomé e Príncipe minisheet and the Guyana first day cover, shown above.

The theme: The giveaway theme is about stamps/minsheets/sheetlets etc with an explicit face value of 9 or 90 or 900 or 9000, etc (in any currency).

The rules:

(1) The giveaway is open to any Stampboarder who has at least 9 posts, and was a member on Fri 24 Nov 2023.

(2) Entries may be posted during the next four weeks, up until midnight Australian Eastern Daylight Time (AEDT) on Sun 24 Dec 2023. (AEDT = UTC+11 = Coordinated Universal Time + 11hrs).

(3) An entry consists of a post showing an image of a stamp with an explicit face value of 9 times any power of 10, that is 9 or 90 or 900 or 9000, etc (in any currency). The stamp shown must not be one previously shown in this thread (so this introductory post already rules out the items from São Tomé e Príncipe and Guyana). If you submit an entry, please include a brief description of the stamp shown.

(4) There is no limit to the number of entries one person may submit. However, to encourage taking turns, no two consecutive entries may be by the same person, unless the entries are separated by at least 24hrs.

(5) Entries will be numbered, and the winner will be selected by random number generator.

Happy posting!

Thank you to the first five entrants! I hope you will each contribute many more entries during the next four weeks.
The only limitations are to alternate with other posters, and not repeat a stamp that has already been shown. :D

Good to know the current challenges to our website are being worked on, thanks to Yuriy. ;)
In the meantime, an opportunity for us to practise patience. :D

Here's a quick look at the early posts to this thread — this is how I will list them, and give updates for each 20 posts, so you can see the number of each valid post.

This stamp was one of the stamps disliked by then Postmaster General C M Davidson. The only stamp he disliked more was the 1960 Melbourne Cup Centenary 5d stamp. Personally I don't think he had any taste! :D

We have now had 31 valid entries — thanks to all contributors. :D
Keep up the good work!
* * *
Details:
When you post an entry in this giveaway thread, please try to include the year of issue of the stamp you show, and its denomination with the appropriate currency abbreviation, even if the stamp only shows the numerical face value without indicating the currency abbreviation.
Most posts have included this information in their descriptions, but for those that don't I have needed to spend some search time to include them in my summary. The reason: As the total number of posts increases, these characteristics will sometimes be needed to check whether a stamp has already appeared in the thread, so cannot be used again for a new entry (Rule 3).

Comment: for lima34 and lesbootman.
Sometimes there is a brief delay in the online appearance of a recent post from another part of the world. The most recent entry by lesbootman was separated from his previous entry by the latest entry from BigSaint. It seems that the intervening post was not visible to lima34 at the time he contributed his comment. The datestamping confirms that all is well:

Oh! In that case it is a linguistic question. May I explain/clarify:
In part, Rule 4 wrote:However, to encourage taking turns, no two consecutive entries may be by the same person, unless the entries are separated by at least 24hrs.
Paraphrase: Normally, consecutive entries are required to be by different people. The only case in which it is permissible for two consecutive entries to be by the same person is when at least 24 hours have elapsed between those two posts with no new entry by another person (and then it is unreasonable to require the poster to wait any longer before adding another post).

Experience shows that the time elapsed between consecutive entries is normally much less than 24hrs, so the need for the special provision for two consecutive entries by the same person is very unlikely to be invoked. It is just there as a "safety valve".

Footnote: Further clarification. The two most recent entries by lesbootman are not consecutive entries in this thread: they are numbered #29 and #31.

Question/request for Puffin = Ubobo.R.O.

You haven't told us exactly what your stamps are. Are they modern cinderellas (eBay sellers in the US like to call items like these "replicas")? Are they perforated versions of examples used for World Stamp Expo '89, which were imperforate, or perhaps colour proofs of 1869 (if so, unusual for them to have been perforated, and surely expensive and rare), or something else again. Can you also be more explicit about year of issue than "1860's", please.

Some online comparisons:

Missing information awaited, thanks.
