I've got so many scrappy stamps I might start doing the same - just need to get a new rubber stamp.

A lot of these is currently available on eBay, and it is interesting as it is written up giving an indication of relative rarity of the various different backstamps used.

The seller is British stamp dealer cm.ltd (Candlish McCleery Ltd). Although it's probably not that easy to assemble a lot like this, in my opinion their asking price of £195 is slightly optimistic.

Wanted to add my specimen to the mix. North Borneo 1897-1902 issue 2c., perf 14, CTO cancel and a decent copy but the Errington & Martin stamp is without an address. Probably overuse of the hand stamp caused the address to break off.

Found this one quite interesting. Not a backstamp but a publicity card.

Seeing that promotional card, I got curious about what those maps might have looked like. They are...odd, at least based on this example I found in an eBay listing.

Errington & Martin Philatelic Map of N. America, obverse
Errington & Martin Philatelic Map of N. America, obverse

Errington & Martin Philatelic Map of N. America, reverse
Errington & Martin Philatelic Map of N. America, reverse

The cities they choose to mark, especially for the United States, seem very strange to me. Brattleboro, VT, but not Boston, MA? No indication of the country's capital (Washington DC)? Athens, GA, but not Atlanta?

I tried to figure out if they were only marking cities of philatelic prominence, but I'm not sure that's it either. Very odd piece of marketing material!
