Checiny Poland Local Post 1919 is there a Jewish connection?

Post by GreggP »

I am looking for information relating to Checiny Poland Local Post. I have a solid amount of material and am trying to find out if there was any Jewish Community connection to these stamps from 1919. Checiny was about 70% Jewish at the time the stamps were issued. Any info would be appreciated.

Gregg,

If you could scan up some examples, I'm sure that would help - without illustrations, many readers will not know anything about these issues

Here's a thread with guidelines for posting images on Stampboards, and an area where you can practice if you're unsure...

8 stamps were produced unofficially and appeared in the philatelic market in 1919, claimed to have been issued by the Checiny town council in 1917/1918. They were not valid for postal purposes at any time. It is not known who produced these particular stamps.
