Here is my new catalogue which arrived today and I'm looking forward to inspecting later.
Below is my current library (doing my bit to keep SG going). I also have the DEEGAM handbook (digital only).

Got two more Gibbons regional catalogues acquired : Central Asia (2007) and Southeast Asia (2012)
GibbonsCentrla Asia.jpg
GibbonsSoutheast Asia.jpg
Found the Central Asia from Subway Stamp Shop here in the USA - part of a clearance sale so only cost me US$15! Southeast Asia just lucked out on from abebooks via a library sale in the UK.

Only two more I need to have the complete set (except for independent Africa, which I think is a lost cause given its been decades since those volumes were published). Still looking for Russia (7th ed 2014) and Japan/Korea (5th ed 2008).

Yes, I agree Africa remains a problem but have you seen SG North-East Africa?

This is the only volume to appear to appear so far in place of the old Independent Africa Parts 12-14 but is now in its 2nd edition (2017).

My 1st edition from 2013 includes stamps from: Burundi, Djibouti, Egypt, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Somalia, Sudan and some predecessor colonies and protectorates.

What's the DEEGAM handbook again?

That Machins volume looks very handy, indeed. Machins will be the death of me, alongside 1d KGV shades of Red.

I'm missing the ACSC Decimals but do have the latest ACSC Kangaroos and KGVs. Then the older (2018? if I remember) editions of KGVI and QEII pre-decimals.

There's Stanley Gibbons' 2018 volume devoted to the British Commonwealth. For the same price I could have purchased their entire stock of shares... Recently acquired the latest 2022 Scandinavian Facit catalogues. It even has a nice red ribbon as a bookmark attached. Have been meaning to post a review of the pre-1950s Facit, but haven't got there yet. The other features Scandinavian issues post-1950s.

In other random volumes, I see a Norwegian language airmails catalogue of some description upon my shelf, and Arne J. Bay's Postal History of Svalbard.

There's a 1980s Michel catalogue of German stamps. Yes, I know. About time to upgrade that, I dare say, but it has been useful at least for identification even if it is all in German.

The Hodder Stamp Dictionaryby Douglas & Mary Patrick was always useful, especially in my early years of collecting stamps when I started receiving auction catalogues in the mail and had no idea what half the vocabulary meant! Informative. Recommended.

I would love to get those Nordic catalogues at some point in the future.

You asked to be reminded what the DEEGAM handbook is in your last post

It's an excellent and extremely detailed specialised machin handbook, created by the now deceased Douglas Myall, and maintained by Hanns Fasching (more information available at www.deegam.com).

As an example of the level of detail, in addition to the usual printer, paper, phosphor bands, gum and perforation varieties it also describes varieties based on "value settings"; the position at which the value is printed relative to the edges of the stamp down to tenths of a millimeter.
Screenshot 2022-06-06 163401.png
It's far a more detailed level than I collect to, but I do enjoy reading and learning about all these variations.

Added new editions of Michel Deutschland Spezial, as well Austria Spezial and USA Spezial to my library. Unfortunately this was not my whole order. I had also ordered Soviet Union Spezial and Great Britain Spezial, but the USPS lost my order en route between Cincinnati and Columbus (less than 200km away) and only these 4 arrived in a body bag (actually body box USPS priority mail box), the other two are lost and I have had to reorder them (and file a claim with USPS  )
Michel.jpg
the USA Spezial is quite interesting - Michel definitely has focuses on variants that are different from what Scott lists - nice to see a different perspective on collecting USA (I also have an old SG USA Regional catalogue that similarly lists things Scott does not - especially regarding shade variants)

Here is Michel's listings for the 1870-1882 Issues, which were printed by 3 different printers. Listed together here by Michel, with nice illustrations for differences, and separate listings for paper and shade variants that go deeper than Scott.

That Michel USA Spezial catalogue looks quite good. Unfortunately I am not fluent in German. Do they have the catalogue in English, or will they have one coming out anytime soon?

I have a Michel Gulf States catalogue in English that is very helpful to me, as it contains a vast amount of unlisted Scott issues.

Thanks DJCMH for your response!

I am also very curious about the Gibbons Portugal and Colonies catalogue. I would like to know how extensive their information is on all the different Ceres paper varieties that they have. If they go into great detail I would consider getting that catalogue as well.

SG Portugal covers some, but definitely not all of the paper varieties. I would recommend getting the Mundifil Portugal catalogue, it has everything.

Finally got hold of the two Michel Specialized catalogues that the USPS lost in my previous order from Michel :x Now have added Soviet Union Specialized 2017 and Great Britain Specialized 2022-2023 to my library
Michel USSR 2017.jpg
Michel UK 2023.jpg
Of course Gibbons is the catalogue of record for Great Britain stamps, but I think it is quite interesting to see what another publisher chooses to list or not list when they do a "specialized" catalogue that is outside their home country.

Here are a couple sample pages from the GB 2023 Spezial
Page from Michel 2023 GB Spezial for the 1934 George V definitives
Page from Michel 2023 GB Spezial for the 1934 George V definitives
Page from Michel 2023 GB Spezial for their specialized treatment of the Machins

Also finally able to get a copy of Nicholas Follansbee's A Catalogue of the Stamps of Mexico 1856-1910 which is considered the catalogue of record today for classic Mexican stamps. Unfortunately, Mexico is one of few major nations that does not currently have a national specialized catalogue of record for all of its issues, so post-1910 Mexico is still mainly covered in articles and monographs, which is a shame and hopefully this might change in the near future.

I finally purchased a Stanley Gibbons catalogue, a 2022 Great Britain Concise.

Though useful, I was rather disappointed with it. It was not hardbound, and was rather small, with very tiny print.

I felt as though I gave too much for it. I seriously doubt if I'll buy any more of Stanley's catalogues.

Two new additions to my library:

Dreyfuss 1994, the Catalogue of French Machine Postmarks.
20230424_174934.jpg
20230424_174946.jpg
and the Pothion 1986 Catalogue of French Travelling Post Offices and Station Marks.
20230424_175013.jpg
20230424_175033.jpg
Both are remarkably detailed reference works; not much use for value given their age but a nice way to judge scarcity and to see how the covers I have fit into the bigger picture.

The latest addition to my small library. I'm planning to use this as the basis of my world collection rather than Scott. I find the idea of a face-different collection appealing and certainly will save time not checking perfs, watermarks, etc. I will get enough of that from my more in depth collections.

Just a thought - if you need an updated copy of Len Jury's Catalogue of NZ stamps, the latest version is available for NZD$23.50 (€13.30). Not bad and probably one of the cheaper philatelic references out there at about 8c per page in Euros. And a terrific front cover to boot!

I've been collecting for just over 2 years. With a focus on NZ, I've tried to assemble a strong research library. Many of the PSNZ volumes are somewhat collectable themselves as they were only printed in editions of 1000. So far I have:

PSNZ vols 1 through 8 & 10
RPSNZ on the Penny Universal
Odenweller's guide to NZ Chalons
Campbell Paterson
SG NZ and Dependencies
NZ Fiscal & Revenues
Wooders on NZ Cancels

Recently upgraded to the 2022 Stanley Gibbons Stamps of the World catalogues as a six volume set for AUD$160.

Yes, still some bargains to be had out there in this inflated post-coviddy world!

Am I right to understand that "simplified" in this case simply means all the stamps issues, but none of the watermark, paper, printing or inking varieties of such stamps?

Back in August Michel was running a sale, if you spent more than IIRC € 150.00 you could take 35% off your order total. So I decided to get myself a nearly complete set of Michel volumes for Europe, buying volumes from 1-2 years ago which were already half-price on the Michel Website.
MichelCat.jpg
I now have 2021 (red) or 2022 (yellow) editions of 13 of the 16 Europe volumes published by Michel, total cost a touch over US$400.00. As I already have Michel Spezial catalogues for Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Russia and Great Britain I did not need to get the Europe volumes covering those.

EXCEPT....I forgot that Ireland is covered in the British Isles Europe volume, so Ireland is now the one European country I do not have a hard-copy Michel catalogue for. Will pick one up the next time I purchase from Michel, since I still need to get the Ubersee (non-Europe) worldwide catalogues that Michel published in hard copy

I have Michel Online, but always wanted to have a hard-copy set of Michel, so now I am halfway there to filling that goal.

Cano Catalogo Especializado de los Sellos de Mexico, volume 1.
Saw the full set of this on Amazon and had to add it to the library - Follansbee has replaced Cano as the authority for Mexico stamps 1856-1910, but for later issues Cano remains the catalogue of record, although the last edition was published in 1996.

Set consists of six volumes covering everything Mexican from 1856 to 1996.

The price has dropped on the 7th edition of the American Airmail Catalogue. $40 if you're an APS member. It has many color illustrations which I think is new as I don't recall any illustrations in the earlier editions. I scanned the tables of contents as these seem to shift with each edition. Volume 2 is now exclusively polar material.

The Postage Stamps of New Zealand volumes, produced by the RPSNZ, are the core, indispensable references for NZ philately. They are also collectable in and of themselves, as most of the series were produced in limited numbers of between 800 and 1200.

I was, therefore, very happy to add this particular volume to my library, not only as a philatelic reference but because it was once owned by one of NZ’s preeminent philatelists, Dr K. J. McNaught. Ken was the editor of this volume and this was his personal copy, presented in appreciation by the RPSNZ.

Should you be interested in owning a copy of this very useful and well-researched reference, send me a message with an offer (plus postage) as my own copy - in very good condition - is now for sale. The volume focuses on early NZ postal history and has extensive information and pictures of early cancels, routes and rates, special hand stamps, etc.

An interesting and useful book. Chapter on techniques is a good introduction and fairly detailed. Volumes 1-4 are available as downloadable pdf's at the philatelic foundation website.

Wow - very cool. Yes I have the full set too - I was just remarking the other day how lucky we are that those before us dedicated so much of their time to developing these resources - which we should not take for granted. To have Ken's copy is a piece of NZ stamp history in itself!

My other often used NZ resources include Bob Odenweller's 'The Chalon Head Issues' (he produced a sorting guide too but I can't find a copy), Tom Lee and John Watts NZ The Chalon Issues (I was told these three aforementioned were going to write a book together but artistic differences may have created the opportunity for two volumes! ) Both great. Reg Walker's Pigeon Post Stamps is a classic and I'm just getting into old auction catalogues (Hackmey, Burris, Robson Lowe, David Patterson and of course Ken Lynch). There's a few others I'm after if anyone has some lying around :D - Yeroc, Agabeg, Liechtenstein, Oded Eliasher Pigeon Post. I have a few in soft but looking for original printed if I can get it.

Yes, agree that it was a major effort to compile those volumes and we benefit greatly from their work.

Bob Odenweller's book is wonderful. I have a spare copy of that for sale, too, should anyone want to make an offer.

His Chalon sorting guide comes up at auction from time to time. It's a slender, but nicely illustrated volume. It's also available online on the RPSNZ site.

I recently added Airmails of New Zealand, Vol 2 by Douglas Walker, also a well-researched piece.

I'm hoping Tony Thackery produces an updated volume of his work on NZ early use as he has an unsurpased reference collection.
