I had started a thread on board games and Eli showed a beautiful stamp from Israel with a traditional children's game called Hopscotch (Klass in Israel, Rayuela in Spain and others countries of Latin America, Marelle in France...)
So, I have decided to start a new thread on traditional children's games to remember with stamps the games we played some years ago.
I share the images of three stamps showing the hopscotch game. Here a stamp from Argentina (1983) (Scott # B102)
Another one from the Cayman Islands (2002) (Scott # 876). I like very much this stamp.
And the last one to start the thread. An excellent stamp from Ireland (1989) (Scott # 745)
In other, if you want to see the beautiful stamp from Israel shown by Eli, you can go to

Carlos, here is again the Israeli stamp of hopscotch. In Israel, it was a game that only girls used to play. Judging the stamps you posted, it seems that in most countries it is the same:
One of the famous and complicated game we used to play was "Five Stones". I remember how we spent hours on the floor in the long days of the summer vacation, trying, unsuccessfully, to complete all the game's stages. Here is a stamp issued by Israel on September 26, 2002, depicting the "Stones":
I didn't see a lot of stamps depicting this game of "Five Stones", only two from Singapore and Korea, if I am not wrong. Eli
In Spain, the game of "Five stones" or "Jacks" was played with lamb's talus bones ("tabas"). Nobody plays this game actually. Here some stamps of this game.

Another kind of traditional games is "string games". This kind of games was very popular at the Pacific Islands and some American natives played them too.
Here a set issued by Nauru on first of August of 1988 with some examples of string games figures:

Jaegi-chagi is a traditional Korean outdoor game, similar to Hacky Sack. The Jaegi, which looks like a badminton shuttlecock, is an object kept in the air using only the players' feet. In Korea, children usually play alone or with friends during winter, especially on Lunar New Year. Here is an image of a stamp depicting a group of children playing Jaegi-chagi, designed by Lee Hea-ock, printed by photogravure, and issued by (South) Korea on December 1, 1984, Scott No. 1395.
Here are images of the two stamps depicting, respectively, boys playing with a kite, and girls playing with dolls, designed by Maltese graphic artist Ray Gauci, printed by lithography, and issued by Malta on May 6, 1989 as EUROPA stamps, Scott Nos. 737 & 738.
Thank you for sharing your images.

The last stamp in that strip depicts hoop-rolling. Lots of kids in Timor Leste still play this game. Here is a 2011 photo of two proponents:
The boy on the right is holding in his right hand the stick he uses to keep the wheel rolling. On the stamp, they are using their sticks to push the wheels at the bottom, but the children I saw in Timor whacked the top of the wheel.

In Great Britain, a similar string game is known as "Cat's cradle". I don't believe we have issued stamps for it.

We can see a game of marbles, hopscotch, kites and the "sapsiwaye" game. This last game seems to the Korean game of Jaegi - chagi shown by Nethryk

Thanks to Eli. The set from Laos is very beautiful and the covers are very interesting. I started to collect only five years ago and the most of what I have is mint. It's difficult to find or change used stamps of my topics. So, I like to see images of circulated covers and stamps.
This is one of the few covers that I have. We can see a set of children's drawings with folklore scenes from Armenia. The stamp in the middle shows the game "Pittu Garam" (seven stones). The set is issued by Armenia in 2014.

This thread became one of my favorites. I like very much the upper left stamp from San Marino depicting wooden carts. We used to built such wooden carts like in this photo (photo was taken in Jerusalem in the early 1950's, if I am not wrong).
Here is a set of children's games issued by Israel on November 26, 2002:

elcooperativo, your themes are very unusual. I'm amazed by how many stamps are out there for your themes.
Do you only collect used as stated in your signature? The images you've posted are mostly mint.
Taiwan has issued quite a few children playing/traditional Chinese toy stamps. I gave away this one a while back, do you have it? If not, I got more and I can send you one, granted, it is marker cancelled.
Visit my pictorial cancellation website: http://pcancels.wordpress.com I Collect Permanent/Scenic pictorial cancellations, China, Taiwan, Japan, Art, Buddhism, Flowers, Fruits, Food/Gastronomy, Mathematics, Scenic Landscape/Landmark, UNESCO World Heritage.
I know my main themes are not usual . (I have a theme of "stamps that I like me" too ). The best is that according to the Scott catalogue there aren't expensive stamps on my main topics. I have mint stamps that I'm showing on the board, so I usually look for circulated stamps. This an adventure because it's difficult to find the most of them. This is my hobby. I'm happy when I find one stamp.
I have mint the sheet you have shown. Thank you for your offer but I prefer mint or circulated stamps. So I think it is better for another person.
If you are looking for Spanish stamps or of a topic and I can help you, only tell me. I don't have too much but I'm happy if what I have is useful for other people.
