Phoenix Auctions - Auction No.79 - Friday 1st May 2020

Post by Phoenix Auctions »

Welcome to our fifth Auction for 2020, being held on Friday 1st May 2020.
Image
This auction is our first full COVID-19 auction and a number of changes have been made to cope with this new environment and to comply with our legal requirements.

The first one is that there will be no room bidders, we have organised ourselves to cater for more phone bidders, but we do encourage everyone to use our website https://www.phoenixauctions.com.au as much as possible as that will provide you with best information about each lot and your bids.

Secondly we are placing more images of each lot on the website to help reduce the need to doing viewing. Please call us if you need additional information.

Thirdly we have changed the order of the lots in the auction. In the past we had a morning session for the collections, boxes etc and the afternoon for better single items or sets. This organisation worked well when we had room bidders as many were just interested in one or the other session and the didn’t have to hang around. However from now on we are merging both styles into one combined auction with all the lots associated with one country being together. We think this will make it easier for everybody.

Lastly we have changed the nature and number of catalogues mailed out. This has mainly been done because mail services have been significantly disrupted and we don’t want hundreds of catalogues being delayed and not arriving on time. However special auctions, like the O’Rourke Kangaroos (29th May 2020), will still be done as a full glossy catalogue.

If you have any questions about internet or phone bidding please call us on our help line (03) 9038 8136, particularly on Friday during the auction. If you intend to bid live online and have any queries as to how our online bidding operates, please contact us, at least the day before, please do not wait until the last minute.

We look forward to your continued & active participation in our current auction season.

Thanks folks, my bids are in! :)

Some great items, as always. Phoenix (may I say) seem to have some fascinating covers available across most auctions.

I noticed you had some of the Adelaide emergency printed stamps on postally used covers. Very nice!

For winning bids: shall I email/phone through for direct payment on Monday, or wait for an invoice first?

Ben .. Auctions usually invoice first. They get 100s of bids. ''Patience is a Virtue''. :)

The day or so after large sales is utter chaos. Dozens of vendors phoning, or being phoned, offers being made, all kinds of negotiations and enquiries etc.
