Hello Hemang . Is this what you wanted?

Image placed on desktop, then &quot;rotated left&quot;,<br />then dragged to new draft, then &quot;placed inline&quot;

Hemang,

It is not an error or mis-step on your part.

There is a random software/technical glitch that no one will acknowledge exists. It is easier to blame the poster than accept that periodically images cannot be properly posted (oriented correctly). This has occurred to me only twice during the thousands of posts I have made.

Regardless of which way I rotated the image it would always appear sideways. ...never upside down!!! That is the pattern that no astute members have noticed.

Do not fret over it. Just keep posting. The image is always corrected by the subsequent poster who will state, "There is no problem".

The preview button is useless since it will always show the image correctly oriented. Only after you "submit" the post the unintended orientation occurs.

Now I'm figuring out this thing Little bit, i posted this 3 differently and got different results, so for posting photos from camera you should edit it, (i mean in correct orientation) and it'll be fine
Edited -90°

There is a discussion of the rotated images on page 5 of this thread.

The "error" comes about because your image is too large.

I have this issue when I have to scan covers that are too wide for the scanner horizontally, so I scan them vertically, rotate them on my PC & they still come out like this:
IMG_20221024_0001.jpg
To fix I download them to a third party "IMGUR", reduce the size in IMGUR, upload them back to my PC & hey presto:
IMG_20221024_0001A.jpg
NEVER upload images from an external third party directly on to Stampboards. ONLY upload images saved on your own devices directly on to Stampboards.

A tip for you. Use a Canon Lide scanner which will allow you to crop images so we see more of the stamp & less background. This will also help with the size of your image.

Enjoy your time on Stampboards.

Image
Screen Shot 2022-10-24 at 10.00.47 am.png
Before placing that image in my draft I chose "centre" (last button on the right).
This results in the pair of instructions "centre" and "/centre" (each in square brackets).
Putting the cursor between those two, and then choosing "Place inline", results in the
image, together with its caption, being centred on the page.

Look at the top right corner:
Screen Shot 2022-10-24 at 10.09.54 am.png
Here's a result:
This image, together with its caption, is being<br />&quot;placed inline&quot; between and
This image, together with its caption, is being
"placed inline" between and
By taking a screenshot, I gain a version of the image on my desktop and then can orient it before posting it.
Now this screenshot image, together with its caption, is being<br />&quot;placed inline&quot; between and
Now this screenshot image, together with its caption, is being
"placed inline" between and
.
By the way, to respond to another poster, I didn't state or imply "There is no problem".
That's misrepresentation. Rather, I described my steps to fix the problem.

I don't understand BigSaint's explanation re large covers. I too scan a large cover/postcard vertically. Then I correct the orientation and save it. I then add it to a thread as usual without any problem?

I guess there are many variables that could be in play between our computers, software & scanners:
Vertical scan as to wide for scanner (76)
Vertical scan as to wide for scanner (76)
Rotated 90 degrees (77)
Rotated 90 degrees (77)
Reduced in size thru IMGUR (78)
Reduced in size thru IMGUR (78)
Screenshot of images 76, 77 &amp; 78 in my picture file.
Screenshot of images 76, 77 & 78 in my picture file.
As you can see I rotated my image 76 ninety degrees & saved it as image 77. Upon uploading to Stampboards, the board software because the image was too large/too wide rotated it a further 90 degrees.

After downloading, resizing & uploading from IMGUR I saved it as image 78 & it now shows correctly in the horizontal position.

There is no fault with the Board software it is doing what is supposed to do when images are too large, it is orientating them so they will fit.

There may be other ways of fixing this issue on our own devices, but I can assure you after spending hours doing so, the method I use here is a quick way to fix these too large/too wide images. :D

My ancient scanner has a rotate function before I scan. For the sake of illustration I don't have anything in the scanner to show this.
Random selection on scanner bed; show Rotation Angle shown as 89+....
Random selection on scanner bed; show Rotation Angle shown as 89+....
Random selection on scanner bed; show Rotation Angle shown as 0 (zero)
Random selection on scanner bed; show Rotation Angle shown as 0 (zero)
One can either use the handle on the central grey line, or change the numerical indicator in 'Rotation Angle'.
(Sorry, I got the captions the wrong way round, unhelpfully, and can't correct them in the edit function)

This is especially useful for scanning postmarks on covers.
Close-up scan of postmark (upright) using rotator.
Close-up scan of postmark (upright) using rotator.
Of course with mobile phones, you can actually take the photo in any one of 4 orientations, and that will also affect how such an image displays.

Thank you for your reply.

I am simply unable to upload from my mobile! I have never had any problems with uploading onto any website.

I just wanted to open dialogue with any members who collect the AP Impressions stamp issues.

Perhaps you can open the appropriate forum page for me so that I can post my request again

Many thanks

Hi Two Pound Roo

I have just checked uploading an image from my phone and it loaded without a problem. Many members use their phones to access SB and have been vocal in the past when there were issues so I'm wondering if you are just using a particularly large image? Board limit is 10MB.

Cheers Margo

Image is not large at all.

It would be the size of the front cover of the 2022 AP Impressions catalogue and is within the pixel limits.

A test from me as I haven't been on Stamboards discussions for ages. I was prompted to return today after seeing a Twitter post in my feed.

This is a screenshot from our website of Cyprus Refugee Fund Tax stamps - obligatory on all mail sent out of Cyprus.
Cyprus Stamps Refugee Fund Tax Stamps

The Cyprus Refugee Fund Tax Stamp
In order to handle the massive problems caused by the Turkish invasion of Cyprus in 1974, with 200.000 Greek Cypriots displaced in their own country, the Government of the Republic of Cyprus set up a “Special Refugee Fund”. To support the Fund and to reduce the financial impact of the refugee problem, Cyprus Post issued a special refugee stamp, which, under legislation, must accompany every object to be posted.

Our Cyprus Refugee Stamp listings fall under three categories of: Mint, Used and on Covers / Envelopes.

Thanks folks for the tips regarding images that magically get flipped vertically.

Sometimes I'll take a photograph with my Sony Xperia 5 phone camera, only for it to be flipped around on the boards and no matter how many ways I tried, always it remained so.

Now I know what to do in the future - just resize it! It must be the width depending on which was I shoot the picture.

ebay & Flyspecker – by the way, some superb pics there! Add that Bermuda & Penny black, for example, to this thread if you haven't already: https://stampboards.com/viewtopic.php?t=16852

Don't forget to " Place inline ". This avoids the white border. And you need to add a file comment
